Thread title explains itself. Curious to see what everyone else is rolling with back there.

Personally I only have Heath Shaw and 5 rookies. Had Laird too but traded him to Sidebottom when he got injured. Happy enough to keep rolling with that set up and upgrade Smith to Steven to complete my midfield rather than upgrading Mills/tippa who are scoring more than Smith, to someone who has a lower ceiling in the backline.

Obviously your backline isn't the most essential part of the team. I tend to like to start my year with majority of the backline (4 usually) rookie/200-300K defenders that have much upside; and throughout the year slowly upgrading them whenever I can and ending up with 4-5 premiums by the end of the season. Right now I'd say I only have 2 premium defenders but some of my rookies such as Dea and Byrne are slowly proving their worth, and once they reach the 350K+ mark (like Dea is about to go well past and hopefully Byrne in the coming weeks) I will look to move them on for a true 500K premium. I just think there's much more important things to look at, forward line and midfield is my top priority.

TBH i know you're pulling the piss however as long as he stays the only ruck Trengove is a premo imo. The moment they start naming another ruckman then i'll trade him for my fourth true premo defender. Will likely be to bring Laird back.
Yeah my fingers are crossed that he does turn out to be a premium. I don't really see why a Dougal Howard or Lobbe come in. Trengove is doing fine in the ruck, Westhoff and Dixon are playing okay forward and they lose a runner if they bring in Howard. Only reason why his scores would dip is that we are going off a sample of just three good games in the ruck.

Well now that I'm unable to afford Steven this week I'll have to bring in a backman under 461k for my fourth premium back. Thinking jumping on Suckling a week early, he was great for me through the first four months and it fits my bye structure well. Other options are McVeigh (looks crap), Gibson or maybe even Rich? None of them fill me with great confidence.

3 that you'd call premiums in Sam Docherty, Kade Simpson and Heath Shaw. Although my backline looks pretty set with the other defenders averaging 70-80. Can always do with improvement but I wouldn't say my backline is a priority at the moment.
