Goes to show his actions aren't dangerous, just borderline aggression mixed in with some stupidity

You will always get those few players in every sport who stand out in one way or another...

Funny thing is in the 70s, 80s these type of colourful players were a dime a dozen who flouted with the laws of the game, colourful characters

nowadays we have key board warriors who are a dime a dozen... posters who have done no wrong in their lives, and become judge and jury...

Nowadays we know how much damage concussions cause and the tough guy is the one going for the ball not the guy going for the bump.

Yet cotchin Is still vilified as some kind of thug for going for the ball in the 2017 prelim...

The umpire needs a holiday as well. Free kick awarded to Billing’s then Cotchin runs in and wrench’s Jones head off. Why wasn’t it 50?
Not sure about a weeks holiday for the ump but it sure should have been 50 metres as a lot worse than kicking the ball away after the whistle has been blown for a free.

It would be a 50m penalty.

Probably, yes.

Although if the ump had been looking at way, he might say that advantage was being taken (and called it) in which case it would 'only' be a free kick.

Ultimately, if the ump had seen all, and reacted quickly enough to everything that happened, that would have been the technically 'correct' call.

Already forgetting Abletts addiction to clotheslining people last year?
Hardly, but hadn't forgotten Danger copping a week, and Hawkins' countless suspensions for things that the likes of Cotchin barely copped a reprimand over

As for Ablett he admitted that he was over zealous, but you could hardly call him dirty. Watching Lynch's actions (e.g., deliberate knee to head) it is clear that he is treading an extremely fine deliberate line

Held my finger on the slider to slow it down and it looks like old mate tries to play on/take advantage so Cotchin tries to tackle him then old mate does the Selwood/Shuey arm lift instantly n makes the tackle go high.Brought it on himself IMO.

Fine for lynch.. was dumb, but a feather tickle could do more damage than that slow knee drop to the Saints players shoulder.

Cotchin’s one is either a fine for rough conduct or nothing at all..
Would like to see a bit more footage of it from a couple more camera angles though..

Seems to be some very anti-richmond posters letting their hate get the better of them when adding their comments on this thread.. plus some desperate port supporters that are praying for cotchin and lynch to miss next week because they watched that game last night and know, if the tigers bring that same game next week, they will absolutely tear the power a new one..

Alex Neal-Bullen got four weeks for what he did, Trent Cotchin nothing too see here. People talk about concussion and the potential to cause serious injury and then totally ignore a tilt the world back breaker not performed in a wrestling ring, sad look for football going forward.
No. Just....no.

Still not a sling tackle

Ironically, one of the reasons it doesn't qualify as a sling tackle made it worse....

It's not a sling tackle if the offending player 'cushions' the fall with his own body (it's a quick and dirty measure, but shows that at least some effort towards a 'duty of care' was taken).

In this case, landing on top of Cotchin probably did more damage than the high tackle. (after all, when he got up, he was holding his back, not his neck/head).

That's why I am mixed. He should get 2-3 weeks for it but with the finals/ good bloke discount he will get 0-1. He makes them better by not being in the side and gives them a 'do it for cotch' motivation to get into a GF.

Not surprisingly, your Richmond are a better side without Cotchin theory was clearly wrong.
