How much better do you feel now that the AFL has issued another 'oopsie'?

I feel like the Crows have a lot of "supporters" by default though. People who'd tick "I support the Adelaide Crows" on a form but don't actually watch or follow football.

I know in my workplace there's at least 3 "Crows supporters" who wouldn't have watched a game in the last 3 years and wouldn't be able to pick Jake Soligo out of a line up.
If you go by the number of posts on a Club's board, we lead Bigfooty. :$

Mind you I think there is a few posters on here with several alias accounts. :D

You could say that for nearly any team in any sport in the world....

Reckon we should just get Thilthorpe to give Mcandrew a buzz. be like yo your dogshit but ur team is aite.

but lets cut the crap you got gifted that game. i think its more than fair we split the points.

then GC can be labelled as a bunch of scumbags or fair players based on this decision

Alex has posted more than the whole Gold Coast board on his own... including more posters.

I like to look at it from a point of view of there’ll be a time soon where there’s an even more important moment where we’ll get the rub of the green,” he said.

it would be nice if he knows something told to him by the AFL that there will be an umpire even up in a close game to come. There really needs to be a manipulated result tha gets us 4 points to make up for the 4 we were robbed of.

I don’t care that an error was made, I care that it keeps happening.

The question shouldn’t be ‘was a mistake made’ it needs to be ‘we need to know why 5 game costing mistakes have been made in 2 years against our club. Our fans feel that it is no longer bad luck. We want to understand what is the AFL doing to ensure these mistakes don’t happen, what stats they look at to ensure biases aren’t happening, and what will they commit to to ensure we get a fairer go moving forward’.

Apology without action is meaningless, as we’ve seen.

Hypothetical
Let's pretend there was a competition where there were some teams in growth markets. And some other teams with huge fan bases. Then a bunch of other clubs.

And I'm boss of this make believe competition.

Let's pretend that my salary and bonus are linked to the financial performance of the league. So it's in my financial interest for the large fan base clubs to be successful and for the growth market clubs to expand.

This is a hypothetical.

What I'd do is keep meticulous stats about umpires. Who subconsciously favours which team, who has biases against certain teams, who is influenced by home crowd noise.

It would be vital not to make these meticulous stats available anywhere. In fact, were anyone to sneakily take a photo of the laptop screen while these meticulous stats are being recorded there'd be hell to pay.

Then I'd match up the umpires most likely to deliver results that bring in the most positive financial results. Wouldn't guarantee success of course, just to curry the percentages in favour of success.

What's the rule on crowd banners these days? Tempted to make an VFL umpires are cheats one for Thursday night.
It may need planning? Have some sneaky velcro swap in letters to change the sign that they inspect going in, and make the change at the ground?

I miss the old days of the unhinged banners... there was one at Football Park in the 1990s with "Don Scott's a W@nker" that somehow got through, and the Dennis Cometti comment "That's an interesting sign" when he saw it.

True!

There is an obvious pattern.

Also Nathan Toner, Matt Stevic, Leigh Haussen or Chris Donlon also umpired quite a few of these games. (not all 4 of these umpires at once, but at least one of them each of these controversial games or for two of those games). Interesting indeed.

Now time to focus on Thursday night in what will be a big challenge vs Geelong, then the Giants after that.

That in bold is a completely wrong take. Why should it matter as in you are giving the opposition no credit at all for their own performance. If anything it makes it far worse as we see when 2 evenly matched sides are playing and the outcome of the game is decided by corrupt umpiring.

There is no way across the whole game yesterday that it was just inconsistent or amateur umpiring. Too many calls were going their way and too many non calls were going their way. It was like a different set of rules were being applied to the 2 sides. Almost like they had an agenda in that game and when it was close they made sure they got end the result that was needed for the AFL.
I agree. It's got nothing to do with the scores and everything to do with the seemingly unjust manner in which our club is adjudicated.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist in the slightest, but boy, it's getting harder and harder the rationalise these terrible, match-changing decisions.

The last thing we should be doing is looking inwards. This is not on us. Our club has done nothing wrong. We are the victims here! 😑

Plus this one back in 1993 (it does say flick the Vics, right?)... would anything like this have a remote chance of slipping through now? :tongueoutv1:
