It's highly dependent on my mood and atmosphere. I can plow through a bottle of rum at home having a few drinks to myself and not be much more than a little tipsy, but if I'm out with mates, 5 schooners and I'm well ****ed.

It's a social thing. Your inebriated state is pretty much a learned response.

Depends on how fast I drink, where I drink, and with whom I drink.

I went to a bar a few weeks back and had twenty drinks (10 Rum and Limes, 6 Gin and Tonic's and 4 shots of Patron) in about two hours and felt fine. It was the Vodka later on that night that tipped me over the edge and rendered me quasi-paralysed from the neck down.

Other times I've had a Sunday session with the lads at Cremorne from midday onwards and have been drunk off of probably twenty beers over the course of the day.

My chart for drunkenness is as follows (maximum five hours):

1-6: nothing
7-11: can feel it
12-15: tipsy
16-20: drunker
21-25: drunk
26-30: smashed
31-35: paraplegic
36-40: ambulance
41-50: RIP Croweater
50 +: David Boon

I love the big-noting these threads bring.

Yeah, nah.

Who goes to a bar and has a drink every 6 minutes for two hours?

People who've been snowed under at work for two weeks straight, had three hours sleep in the preceding three days and who went out with the sole mission of getting hammered.

And people who know me know that when I set my mind to something, I succeed. In this instance, I succeeded in making a massive twat of myself.

Three hours sleep in three days?
That's just shambolic time management.

If you understood how much shit (paperwork, case law, practice notes, court records) you need to wade through in the legal profession, not to mention all the meetings, consultations, calls, travel, schmoozing, wining, dining, networking and extra studies that go along with it, you wouldn't be saying that.

I'm looking forward to taking some annual leave next month, let me tell you.

has varied greatly over my life. when i was a youth 17 to around mid 20 years old i could consume vast quantities of alcohol (classic friday, saturday binge drinker) and get up the next morning and go for a run or have a hit of squash (the racquet sport not the vege) with no side affects. then in my mid 30s i owned a pub and that eye opening experience along with health factors, gradually over around 5 years turned me off alcohol. my tolerance for it was lessening by the day then eventually i would have 1 or 2 drinks and feel sick.
so i gave up completely and didn't have a drink at all for 7 years. now i have a very occasional beer ie. if we are away on holidays i will have 2 pots maximum, although i haven't had a drink now for around 18 months.

What else were you on besides alcohol?

A full bottle of absinthe usually does the job for me

Do I win?

No against me.

Depends what your definition of drunk is. I can drink standard beers at a good pace over 6-8 hours. If I go for heavier beers (IPAs etc) it would take half the time. If I mix spirits or wine it changes.

It's hard to say volume wise. Croweaters guide is pretty accurate if he is just talking standard drinks.

It definitely depends on what you drink, just drinking beer it takes you longer to get drunk and even then you still know what you're doing.

Drinking spirits/cocktails you can get messy real quick and have no memory the next day of what you did, which can often be a good thing.

Wow, by the end of the night your knees must really ache
