How much $$ would you give for a GF win?

I was asking myself this question, how much would I give to have Geelong win the flag? I thought to myself I'd give $500 to see it happen (obviously it means more than money to all of us but $500 is a decent amount seeing I'm doing it pretty tough with a kid and a mortgage).

Anyway it may be sacriligious but I've decided to give $500 away in the hope that Geelong win - by betting on port @ $2.70.

I think we'll win and I pray that we win and I'm giving $500 away for it to happen. However at least if we don't I'll be able to buy membership for the next few years.

Its win-win. Ask yourself what is it worth to you to see Geelong win the flag, and then go down and bet on Port.

What do you guys think?

I see, so you think Geelong will win so you bet $500 on Port....sorry but I find this a bit silly.

It's covering his bases.

Either way he wins - and I think it's a great idea.

I'm doing the same with the Storm game this weekend.

I don't think any amount of money could console me if the Storm lose again, but hey, Hood raises a good point, some can go to charity ...

Yeah it's called hedging :) If geelong win I'll be happy to lose my $500. But at least if port do win I'll pick up $1350 which might ease the hurt a little.

Get it?

*I should say, i'm not going so far as to put 500 on Manly, but i've put $100 on them at $2.50.

Let's hope we both make a combined loss of 600 on the weekend, Magnum. :D

While you're at the TAB wasting money backing the opposition, why don't you fork out another $500 and back all the Port players to win the Norm Smith medal too....apparently with the trend of the last couple of years we're no chance because Jimmy won the Brownlow

If Geelong win, not only will you lose your $500, but your ideas on a cheap membership ticket for the next few years will disappear too

or you could have 500 on the cats at $1.90 and win $900.00

all this means is you have no faith in the cats ability to win or you have doubts. I would never be happy to loose that sort of money.

Ok, bugger it I won't. I've asked for opinions and I can't go through with it.

Live and die by what happens tomorrow and suck it up regardless.

Thanks for the input lads :)

Believe me, I have faith in the Cats, I think we'll win. I was just toying with the idea of hedging on what could be the greatest day for GFC ever. I don't want to mess with the feelings of joy/pain so I'll leave it to destiny. I've been waiting 29 years for tomorrow.

LETS DO IT CATS.

That's actually pretty smart.
As long as at the end of the day you're still cheering for the Cats, it's a pretty good bet.

i think if you had 500 on....a part of you might be wanting port to win, bad idea i think. Have some balls and back the cats...you'll be twice as happy! :thumbsu:

GOOD decision, saved yourself half a grand! And the catters won, talk about win/win. Well done Geelong, best team all year, and proved that way today. Plus the added bonus of Port having got a really bad record = worst Grand Final loss in AFL history. LOL. Will never let them live it down. Onya Cats:thumbsu:
