We retained many veterans in 93 whilst our baby bombers were developing. If I recall, we brought in Ezard, T Daniher and one other against Carlton in that loss by 2pts. Imagine if they'd have been delisted due to having Fletcher coming along so quickly. He wasnt available in that game, so we had to bring in a replacement quickly.

How big were the lists in 1993? 50?

Definately bigger than 38.

Ezard played 4 games in 1993, if we keep Pev to play 4 games we are making a big mistake. A kid can come in and make an impact for 4 games.

Heffs also been dropped incidently. 3 matches he's missed through omission, so the same argument would apply to him whether he would be in our best 22.
I would imagine it would take one developed kid to push him out also.

Heff only got dropped once. He missed against Freo because of the flu from memory.

When he did get dropped, it was by his own request. Otherwise he probably wouldn't have been. He asked to go back because he felt his fitness and confidence was slipping because of limited game time. Seems it worked.

Slattery, Dempsey, Jolley, Winderlich, Cole.

Monfries steps up to take more responsibility in the midfield.
If we draft Gibbs, who's spot does he take?

Slattery is already in, Dempsey..too small and needs time to develop physically, Jolley already there (going on our last lineup Friday night)...Winders would defintely be in, as long as his body holds out...Cole would be anyone's guess....needs a solid pre season though. As to where Gibbs goes would be anyone's guess right now...so not really on my radar right now.

Exactly, but he didn't play on Friday night.

Who comes out? Pev?
Surely you can see my point, Dempsey doesn't have to play every game but he is an option and in order to rebuild he needs to play games.

Who's spot does Winderlich take?

Damien Peverill and Mark Bolton are the two most expendable players on our list because they don't actually have any upside. (EDIT) Nor do they have an obvious weapon that hurts sides.

Before I head off to work, I think theres a spot for Pev for depth. Cant ignore the fact that he has put together a good month of football. In this write off of a season, I think he's just done enough to warrant a spot to help sure up experience vs youth. We're faced with losing Hird also, so to have some veterans on our list would ease the transition, rather than shock the system so dramatically.

Again, thanks for the debate..can always rely on you :thumbsu:
