Did any of you actually read the article? They were training in smaller groups or on their own.

So were our players.

I agree with Fred. I think this will serve the Hawks will in April, but not necessarily in September.

The Hawk way this year, as with last, will be to attempt to bank as many wins as they can early to give themselves the freedom later on to decide who they can rotate, freshen up etc. Don't be surprised if the form tapers during the middle-latter part of the season before improving again in the approach to finals.... all assuming that the actual wins on the board actually happen early. If they don't they don't get the option to rest players.

We learnt a lot from our poor start in 2012 where we were 2-3 and then barely lost a game for the rest of the season as we had to keep winning just to ensure top 4. As it turned out we finished top but the season was so tight we could have still missed top 4 going in to the last 1-2 rounds. Come finals time unfortunately we had been up a long time and played players like Hodge who clearly were underdone/needed rests and we couldn't reproduce our best footy.
