SIMPSON said himself that his presentation to the club had nothing to do with personell . The recruiting staff had that all covered . HE PLAYED NO PART
Simpson's line function is not in the "Personnel Department", but being the "supervisor" of all players, he must have the personnel role.

You need a mix of experience and good young talent. Must have a core of emerging midfielders who are A grade who are around or reaching that 100 game mark.

Shuey last week game 100.

And this week we have Gaff 100 games.:D:D:D:D

Naitanui 122 games with his best ahead of him.:thumbsu:

Sheed and Duggan following behind nicely with Masten finally reaching his potential with Priddis leading as the older statesman.

Also need a forward line who can kick a winning score. Kennedy, Darling and Le cras.

Geez I hope MacKenzie can make it back to his best with McGovern and Hurn that's a pretty good core group.

Like others have said, the building blocks are all there. We just need the personnel on the park and a little bit more development in some core players. Next year is a genuine opportunity.

We have hardness:
Naitanui
Cripps
Priddis

We have X factor
Shuey
Yeo
Naitanui

We have reliability:
Hurn
McGovern
Gaff

We have goal scorers
Kennedy
Darling
Lecras

We have class
Shuey
Lecras
Wellingham
Sheppard

We have hard runners
Masten
Gaff
Selwood

We have young talent
Duggan
Sheed
Nelson

.... I think you all get the picture.

We need a Jetta or Rioli type speedster to play as outside mid or half back

Someone with wheels ...?

Look we were all jumping about in 2011 and 2012 also ...

Let's keep lid on it .....you don't win flags.

You gets yourself into a position over 22 games and then charge at it

Bit like climbing Everest ..?GET TO BASE CAMP ...THEN YOU have a chance

We haven't even reached base camp yet and talk of flag is a bit premature I think

I reckon lamb and Neilson can play also

This was a great draft for us

To borrow your analogy, I feel like this year we are in training for Everest. Maybe we are climbing kilamanjaro instead. And I agree with others that a legitimate speedster would help, but I do think we have enough talent within the team next year to mount an expedition to base camp. If we get all our best Sherpas on the expedition and up to base camp then we are a real shot.

I'm also really happy with the balance in the midfield right now. And unless we are adding a prodigious talent, I think we could do more harm than good by slowing the development of Duggan et al by gifting games to a mid tier inclusion. I also think our depth is pretty good when you consider we have hutch, Lucas, newman and college all running around in the twos. Add to that our projects in waterman, cavka, adamson and Maginnes and the future looks bright. not to mention another first round draft pick.

Agree .....if you analyse it I'm not sure Mitch brown would be playing right now anyways

We'd be too tall down back ...

So we are one player down right now ...we have a chance

This was a great draft for us

Im still not sold on lamb. Athletically he definitely has the ability to make it. Right size, very good (if inconsistant) kicking skills, good mark, great runner, good leap and good mark. Works hard and goes hard at the ball.

Has a low football IQ in my mind, struggles with pressure and can be prone to making poor decisions or if he can't make up his mind just kicking it long forward.

Has the tools to make it, can we develop the mental side of things and lower the difference between his best and worst. I have said before that i worry he will be like staker was. All the tools but infuriatingly frustrating not seeing them all come together regularly.

We were not sold on sneed either

I wasn't even convinced yeo was that great either .....

I wasn't convinced Nic Nat was going to be great

I wasn't sold on Brad Shepard

I can't believe schofeilds Improvement also

Time ..he will need time. He looks ok though. Just give him time

Bloody awful form the page prior ripping into Woosh.

I have no problem with the bloke pumping up his tyres at West Coasts expense if he wants to jump back in the game. Three flags and the bulk of the current group have his fingerprints all over them. Left the club in fine shape for Simmo to work his magic. I think he's paid a fair set of dues.

The least we can do is give him a little reflected glory if it is a leg up to the next phase of his career.

Well he is a first year player who has been injured since round 1. Surely no one is sold on him but it's only fair he's given time.

Happy for him to be given time, but that is my assessment on what i've seen of him as a junior, at training, in the nab cup and in round 1 this year. It will be interesting to see and i will be keeping a closer eye on him than most. Hoping he proves me wrong.

Possible in 2016?

B: Wellingham - Mackenzie - Butler
HB: Schofield - Barrass - Hurn
C: Gaff - Priddis - Masten
HF: Darling - Kennedy - LeCras
F: Cripps - McGovern - Newman

R: Naitanui - Shuey - Yeo

Int: Sheed - Duggan - Ellis - Sheppard

Emg: Nelson

Just an idea of what id like to see tested at some stage next year. I see 10 players who can play defense, 10 players who can play midfield roles and 9 players who can play forward. I love the flexibility but also the level of running depth across the park, especially if you've got one discrete ruckmen and a potential return of four players on the bench.

If you want a second ruck then it's a question of what sort of defender you drop. A tall or a small/ medium.

Very few players scream out as fulfilled talents on first views. Shuey, Duggan, McGovern are probably the only three at West Coast i've instantly fallen in love with and instantly knew would be guns.
