How to run hard as a defender?

I've got terrific fitness, but can't use it to my advantage because I have to man up on the forward. I never end up tired, and feel like I'm wasting. How can I run hard and use my fitness to my advantage?

Drag your opponent high up the ground. It'll put you in more positions to receive the ball and make your opponent accountable, forwards hate chasing. Be proactive instead of just following a man around.

Really tho just run your guts out the backline is the best place for it. As long as your coach sees you run as hard to get back as you do when trying to create coming out of defence, you should have the license to run.
