My car doesn't have iPod compatibility so I use headphones to listen to music when I'm out of range of Triple J or there are terrible songs being played.
FM transmitters don't work for me either because the aerial is at the back of the car.

No, you just have them hanging around your neck as you strut about the town.I just find the big headphones to be real "look at me" and unnecessarily large. You can't put them neatly in your pocket either when you're not listening to the music either, which is an awkward drawback for me.
