Unfortunately, the failure at the Federal level is emboldening the state Premiers. Morrison is demanding the states reopen by a set date without articulating a detailed framework, steps and contingencies. I'm not a huge fan of states tribalism on this but as time progresses I can understand it more. There's not much faith in the Federal govt at any level and rightfully so.

Having said that, Morrison should definitely use the leverage he has (funding of things like JobKeeper) to bring the states like WA to the negotiation table, given he's clearing incapable of formulating any reopening plan himself. But he hasnt done that. Instead he's whingeing in parliament 'Australia needs to be whole again!'We'll good luck with that #scottyfrommarketing.
