Do you not think it is bizarre that the Premier simply refuses to come on the No.1 radio station in Melbourne?

Since Kennett ALL premiers, bar Andrews, have taken advantage of the weekly get together with Mitchell to discuss state issues. Sure those sessions have been testy at times, but I'd say the premiers have benefited immensely, and from what I've heard Mitchell has been measured and fair. I recall Kennett threatening to walk out once!

The real reason why Andrews won't come on is because he wouldn't have his minders to filter questions and tell him what to say. His whole political persona is heavily scripted and managed by PR people, and someone like Mitchell would not allow that sort of heavily vetted interview.

Many would say Andrews simply doesn't need 3AW, but a time will come when he could do with the exposure

Apart from the last jibe, you're kind of making his point and what I was saying about radio. Politicians don't engage with the media to have a reasoned argument, they do it to get a message across.

Andrews may have a very successful social media machine (not sure how you measure that in terms of impact) and has realised you don't need these traditional channels anymore.

Drawing a long-ish bow, it's similar to Naomi Osaka realising she doesn't need press conferences when she has 2.5 million followers. The media needs these people far more and Mitchell complaining about this is a sign of his own irrelevance.

I'm not saying this is good for democracy (it's a decrease in accountability, after all), but media has never been weaker and politicians exploit that.

Of the people I've heard call in to 3AW (my parents have it on constantly at their place) I would say 90% are conservatives. It's also a dying medium.

There's just no point going on a radio station with such a narrow audience. Being the Number 1 radio show in Melbourne is like being the best show on Channel 31.

What would ANdrews possibly stand to gain? It'd just be rage pr0n for conservatives.

How much Sky do you actually watch? Dick marles, tanya plibersek, adam bandt, they and many others of the left are on routinely.

I'm worried you are relying on a caricature of Sky rather than factual evidence.
