This is actually ridiculous, it's almost as bad, if not worse than lockdowns.

As a manager, the last 2 weeks have been spent scrambling for staff, cancelling services, and working stupid OT hours, because everyday or every second day someone is a close contact or "exposed" and has to get tested and isolate.

Covid ain't going anywhere. It's here to stay. Where vaccinated, and those who aren't can't use most services.Time we just accepted that and got on with our lives.

Been saying for weeks it’s not sustainable. It’s actually stupid. Government still paying for vaccinated people to sit at home waiting for a test result that aren’t even sick. Almost as if we’re still chasing zero.

Let us get on with it. The unvaccinated can cop the isolation periods.

Oh no it's to hard to do rosters when we actually have to let people who are sick stay home
I think the issue is more that they aren't actually sick just deemed a contact

Aren't confirmed sick. Doesn't mean they couldn't be

Sigh. Post something dumb, get called out, tries to pin it on the other person.
Be better moderator.
Are you really not understanding the problem?

Are you?
We are talking about those close contacts who have to test everytime there near someone with covid.
In 2 weeks I've had 13 staff now not able to complete a shift. Not one tested positive.
There casuals, they don't get sick leave, and I'm pretty sure you only get one payment from the government for one test.

Once again, covid ain't going anywhere.. we are vaccinated. Those who aren't, can't use most services. Time has come to get on with normality.

The positive test rate over the last week is 1.88%. From being classed as a close contact it is probably even lower as higher rates are more likely to come from family members

So for maybe a 1 in 100 chance people are losing work and businesses are losing workers.

The question for business owners would be are they willing to take that risk given that based on percentages you are likely to be shutdown every 100th person that is deemed a close contact. 1 a day would mean every 14 weeks you would have to shut down

What about close contacts who need to stay home pretty much for 24 hours waiting on a result, and miss shifts at the last minute? What’s even more mind numbing is if they’ve worked a previous shift..and then more of the staff are off waiting a result. But hey as long as the boss has a magical roster. It’s ludicrous.

Good luck with local and state level sport next year in the country. It’s going to be ruined again thanks to stupidity.

It is an awkward situation because what if it turns out they are infected and then spread it. How would you feel if someone becomes seriously ill or dies because you unknowingly gave it to them when you could have stayed home 1 day to confirm?
Vaccines don't completely stop serious illness or even death from this virus

I would prefer to be more on the open side but can understand government cautiousness on this.

What’s the end game mate? It affects so many things that are important to peoples lives. It’s not sustainable.
Now it’s about protecting the vaccinated, who may potentially still pass away..

If you’ve got something important coming up, you’d better stay home for a week.
