CSIRO's data science experts found that the detailed nature of the information in the dataset created a high risk that some individuals may be identified by linking the dataset with other information sources.

The myki id is not included but there is still a unique and consistent identifier for each Myki user. The data also contains the type of Myki card, for example, police or politician concession - some of these categories are quite small. All you need to do is identify the person from one journey then you have their whole travel history. So for a work colleague, you could observe them touch on in Melbourne and if you know which station they get off at you can find all their travel records. Researchers at the University of Melbourne identified a politician and his travel history based on his social media.

The Victorian Deputy Commissioner for Privacy and Data Protection found the release of this data by the Department of Premier and Cabinet was a serious breach of the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014.

Thats better detail than the story. Yes there should be no common identifier

"It has become clear that the quality of Australia’s recyclable material is compromised due to its high rate of contamination - which is why we’re going to work with councils on a major overhaul of kerbside collection to improve the quality of recyclables being collected by councils.

Should have happened two years ago when the Chinese called our stuff rubbish. Its not recyclables, its rubbish Minister Lil !!!!!

We hang s*** on Andrews for screwing up recycling but are totally cool with a federal government that pretends like climate change isn't happening. There's a detach somewhere here.

Andrews in only ion the gun on recycling because the most useless level of Government dropped the ball, stuffed it & poor old Lil (aka the dill) has been nonsense by her advisers.
Bit like the Feds & power, the States on the east coast have dropped the ball big time & want Federal Govt money to fix it, & to date its been snafu.

Got faith Dastardly Dan can fix this recycling mess, just whether or not Lil is part of the fix or not.

Mr Potato said its happening. Cant blame the pacific island people not being impressed

We should have told the truth aka what we do makes not one iota of difference, you know China pretty well fellas, start there, start where it does make a difference.
Be sure to keep us plugged in on your progress & cc virtue signallers central !!

His ministry was aware of the impending crisis 2 years ago and did nothing because “but the level crossings!!!” Are their only sell.

Look, I don't know whether the east are pissed off they didn't get their s**t road. But Daniel Andrews is ******* brilliant. We need to leave the great man alone and let him build s**t for areas of melbourne that actually matter

As we enter the 3rd year of the recycling fiasco, Dan needs to get rid of that dud THE HON. LILY D'AMBROSIO , give the job to Jane Garrett, she'd pull the public servants into line & crack a few heads in local government.
Lil is not up to it ...

Lil stuffed up the Vic solar industry also, and refuses to enact simple solutions (like scrapping the failed rebate altogether). Unbelievable incompetence.

Dans big east west link plan in tatters

Firstly it's the North-East Link.

Secondly it has only been nominated for potential heritage listing and it hasn't been approved yet.

And lastly they would need to get permits to allow construction, similar to the Metro Tunnel with parts of St. Kilda Rd. So the permits should be easy to acquire and will probably only affect design and aesthetics for the North-East link.

Its a must for NE Melbourne, remember when the reserved link between Greensborough & Ringwood was sold, how bout that for vision.

Hasn't the route already received planning approval? The job is already out for tender so any retrospective changes in heritage overlays wouldn't be applicable unless the courts became involved. Can't imagine an injunction would be forthcoming either...

When was this?
Pre Kennett, the rust bucket era:
The Joint Road Planning Group developed four 'Preliminary Alternative Proposals' which their Study Office described in "Outer Ring Diamond Creek to Ringwood Study, Bulletin 2", July 1978.
