I was under the impression that Lock-down 1 was to "flatten the curve" so that the health system could cope. Than what was March-June for? For the government to smoke cigars and drink sherry?

This is just gross incompetence. I smell a revolt if the leaders don't do the one dignified act and resign.

And who is going to lead this revolt, you and Seeds?

That’s like being bashed with a lettuce.

Remember during the last lockdown when one poster here was gunna go down to Parliament house and start a protest to overthrow the govt?

  • The positive rating of the State Government in Victoria has dropped from 65% in June to 49% this week. 17% think the Victorian government is doing a very good job (down from 26%) and those thinking they’ve done a quite good job has fallen from 28% to 32%.

FFS we cant be that ******* stupid - stay home campaigners!!!!
There’s a rumour going around that it’s tonight. Not sure how accurate it is

Any word on what stage 4 means? More business closures but what about construction/tradies etc? Surely they'd keep that going although not sure the Kiwis did..
only supermarkets pharmacies and medical to open
Must work from home unless your job doesn’t allow it
Not allowed out of your postcode
Exercise limited to certain hours

or that’s the list I saw anyway

Anyone want to make a prediction on how many new Coronavirus cases would be for Victoria tomorrow?

you do know the results that are coming are from testing 4-6 days ago, right?

as a society we cannot continue to be locked down everytime these outbreaks occur, and they will occur, so, perhaps it’s time to go for the elimination stratergy. We have geography on our side

just saying we were doing so well till the end of Eid, BLM protests

everyone that returned + results before those events were returned travellers, we had the opportunity to eliminate it but rather the nation chose to surpress it, now we’re faced with lock downs every time there is an outbreak, not sure about you but that is no way to live...you can bet your last brass razoo that it’ll keep appearing in the community until there is a vaccine.

that is unless we do what NZ did.

The test results are from people that got tests 2-3 days ago, but more relevantly the positive cases are from people that got exposed 6 - 20 days ago. The test results reported today are unlikely to include many people that were exposed to the virus after the stage 3 restrictions were re-imposed on the weekend.

Assuming the cases follow the same pattern as they did in the first week April, it won't be until early next week that we will know if the current strategy is working.

Not surprising but https://www.theage.com.au/national/...ed-to-melbourne-outbreak-20200714-p55c12.html

A coronavirus cluster at a south-western Sydney pub has been genomically linked to Melbourne cases, putting NSW on high alert for a similar large scale outbreak.
As the Crossroads Hotel outbreak in Casula grew to at least 30 cases on Tuesday, genomic testing conducted by NSW Health revealed a Blue Mountains resident who dined at the venue on July 3 is linked to the Victorian outbreak. NSW closed the border with Victoria on July 8.

So now the Andrews government incompetence is not just impacting Victoria. Most of the 49 cases in the NSW outbreak can be traced back to the Melbourne hotel quarantine fiasco.

Health authorities have confirmed the link between BLM protests and a cluster of 242 cases in a Melbourne public housing tower....
It’s not a causal link

repeating a link doesn’t make it causal. All it confirms is that two people who attended the protests, have tested positive in a public housing tower. Considering the current tests are placing people in quarantine for 14 days and awaiting another positive test, for it to be causal these people would had to have had the virus for what, 6 weeks? Are you suggesting there’s a new strain that lasts for longer than health authorities know?
