our KPP depth, especially the youngsters coming through. Have we got enough talent there to make sure that there is someone to take over from Carey and Stevens and provide a good spine for us down the track?

Key Position Players
34 Smart 187/88
32 Carey 192/97
28 M Stevens 193/96
27 Bassett 190/89
24 Perrie 191/96
22 McGregor 195/93
21 S Stevens 194/?

21 Hentschel 191/80
20 Bock 193/82
20 Rutten 192/96
20 Kreuger 195/90
20 Parker 193/90*
18 Watts 194/86

Our stocks look healthier compared to this time last year.

I would suggest that the top-7 are all proved themselves as currently capable of playing AFL - Smart, Hound & Kenny mainly as backmen; Carey, Perrie mainly as forwards; & M & S Stevens both ends of the ground.

The question though is with the retirements of the Smart, Carey probably next year & possibly M Stevens too, where does that leave us? Reckon our defence will be solid enough with Kenny, Bassett & S Stevens, & likely that one of the younger guys will step up (hopefully to play on the gorillas).

Reckon our forward line is more of a concern without Carey & M Stevo. Perrie is solid, but we will probably need 2 of Hentschel, Rutten, Krueger & Watts to come on. We need to talk M Stevens in going on more than 1 year IMO, to ensure that we have time to develop this younger talent.

He will play on for longer. When he made those comments he was pretty down and very depressed. However, club has spoken to him since and he seems to have changed his mind. I am confident Stevo will play at least until he is 30 which is another couple of years.

Hadn't heard that & hope that it is correct Stiffy. Must admit Stevo sounded very down in the dumps when I heard that interview on the way to a game - I was very surprised to hear what he was saying.

Thats what John Reid said at the end of the season. Cornesy asked him a question if the club had spoken to Stevo and given him support and counselling and Reidy said they went through the required process and Stevo is looking forward to playing in 2004 and has changed his outlook on his career. Reidy sounded pretty confident that Stevo will play for a few more years.

I remember that interview with Stevo he sounded like he was really down in the dumps. It was a pretty big statement at the time.

All good now:D

Definetly is. What I would like us to do with Stevo in 2004 is to play him at FF and let Carey play CHF in his final year. This would somewhat prolong Stevo's career as his body doesn't get belted as much at FF as it would at CHF.

I'm not as fussed, as long as both play most games! Reckon both are good enough to play either key forward post & gives us flexibility to swap them around if our forward line isn struggling.

Well, in spite of it being "meaningless dribble" you seem to have an unhealthy obsession with it/me.

Want me to send you an autographed photo?

Jesus - I hope you WERE able to spell it without a dictionary ...

Though I was pleased to see you back to your grumpy self - you've been entirely too polite for the last couple of weeks. I was starting to get suspicious that someone was posting under your name ...

To be perfectly honest, I think Carey plays CHF better still than Stevo, no disrespect to Stevo.

He looked like a fish out of water at full forward, but Stevo looked fine there. Carey plays like a natural at CHF, let's let him stay there if it's where he feels more comfortable and plays his best football. He is still sharp as hell mentally, he was great with the one-percenters and assists in the games he played.

Spine:

M. Stevens
W. Carey
M. Ricciuto
K. McGregor
N. Smart
