Howe many?

Im not suggesting he tried to hurt him by any means.. but i think there was intent to stop him or impede him with his leg/foot when he saw the blind turn coming.

Unfortunately due to momentum/positioning or not he also swung the leg which added to the impact.

Again.. he wasnt trying to break his leg, but there was intent to impede him.

I would argue attempt to corral.... which turned into impede due to Fisher.

Most trips are late, and an after thought by a beaten opponent.

I can't see the trip. I have tried. I just can't see it.
Can't see a trip here?

Can you imagine your reaction if Ed Curnow had punched Smith in the head within the first 5 minutes? You would be going bananas.
Nah
I'm not saying he shouldn't get suspended for punching Cripps

You're projecting
Possibly though im going by the reaction of hawthorn supporters at the game to various umpires decisions when you blokes were 10 goals up. If supporters whinge like that when they are so far up what are they going to do when one of their stars gets punched in the head - they will go bananas.

Yeah because nobody whinges at the umpires at the footy

Smacks one bloke in the mouth and breaks another bloke's leg.

He must be so proud of his day's work.

The punch was very poor. I don't think it was intentional, but it does look it. If it was intentional, he is in bigger trouble at the club than the tribunal.

Eye gouging is not a postcard moment.

Personally, i don't know why supporters of the "victim" take it so personally. Unless it is seriously dangerous, i tend to think that all teams have their offences during the year.

I think the Fisher incident will cop the bigger suspension, especially if the fracture is confirmed.

View attachment 531345

Cripps hit: Intentional - Low impact - High = 1 match (Maybe they say medium impact which would be 2 matches but doubtful).
Fisher trip: Intentional - High impact - Body = 2 matches (If the fracture puts Fisher out for the rest of the season they might say severe which would be 3 matches)

I'd say 3 to 4 matches.
Without seeing the front angle how can you say it was high impact and intentional? It's different to the selwood one because it happened pretty quickly, selwood had time to make his decision to stick the leg out. It also seemed like he was lowering his body to compete for the ball, was beaten to it and fisher spun away from the contest at the same time with Howe in an awkward position. That's what it looked like to me.

Not everything is about Geelong

Stay on topic ffs
It is on topic champ, not sure why geelong supporters are getting on their high horse when they have 2 of the most protected players in the game. Both selwood and Dangerfield used their legs dangerously yet there is silence but when a no name who plays for hawthorn does it all hell breaks loose. If you can't see it for what it is than your a lost cause.

The commentators never let up about the punch the whole game, not sure how you reckon they were lenient. Howe was looking at 2 weeks as soon as he chipped him due to the media outrage. Deserved 1 but that's the way the MRP wheel spins, if the clowns with microphones are outraged, you're getting a bigger penalty

We will differ in opinion but imo while they did mention it a few times, they just stated that it happened there was no real condemnation or outrage. We've seen other acts be called dog acts by the commentators in game.

Dude a punch to the jaw like that should always be two weeks at least...need to stamp it out of the game. It's not a football act.

Not like you blokes were when so far in front. It was laughable the reaction of your supporters.
So getting reamed by the umps shouldn't matter if your 10 goals up? Bizarre logic. Guess when you have become a laughing stock we all should be letting go of our anger towards umpiring decisions for sympathy's sake yeah?

That's good vision of it...the live shot was from the other side so hard to see.

Howe comes in with a swinging leg for no good reason...very dangerous and breaks fishers leg...
He is reaching out to either contest the ball or lay a tackle, when you trip someone you usually don't attempt to tackle at the same time, you just stick a leg a leg out and act like it was an accident like selwood did. Go back and have a look at many incidents over the years and see what the common factor is.

Separate to punching Cripps in the face, the reality is the foot was stuck out as a last resort/desperation attempt to stop a player which is what you'd expect from any player, so it's unfair to say it's a dog act because I seriously doubt Howe would deliberately cause a leg injury to an opposition player. That being said, the method of stopping the player (tripping) was illegal and it caused severe harm so Howe must be scrutinized as per the tribunal guidelines.

Really nothing special, just some fans are confused with intentionally causing harm and intentionally using illegal methods to stop a player.

Ummm i am pretty sure the punch was intentional. Not much venom , but if not intentional i don't know who else lifted his fist and arm up and propelled it forward into cripps face.

If fisher doesn't spin away from the contest would he have been tripped up?, he did it to avoid the tackle as Howe had his arms reaching out. An unfortunate accident imo, at worst 1 week should be the outcome but I can guarantee he will get 3-4 which will mean he won't be back unless we make finals.

Pretty much this. If he goes its for doing something against the rules that resulted in an injury
Whether you think the injury should matter is a different issue.
