Ross Lyon is planning to respond to Freo's trainwreck of a year by........ becoming even more of a control freak. :drunk:

Y'know how great business managers empower their staff by giving them responsibility & placing trust in them? Ross Lyon isn't like that. 0 Premierships.
He's not becoming more of a control freak, just going back to his normal amount. He let go of the reins this year and delegated. Look how well that went.

Let me explain what really happened Reg.

After losing the 2015 prelim Ross grudgingly came to the conclusion that his gameplan was out of date and he'd never beat Hawthorn with it. He was finally forced to put his stubborn 'my way or the highway' approach aside and admit things needed to change, and that he wasn't capable of delivering that change himself.
So he went out and grabbed three ex-Hawthorn coaches in Rock, Guerra & Hale and told them he wanted to transform his team into the kind of high-scoring, free flowing side Hawthorn is.

So why did it fail? Because for the past 4 years at Freo he's done nothing but select & train players on the basis of who could deliver the most pressure, not who can actually kick a ******* football. Surprise surprise, it didn't work because you have too many 'role players' AKA hacks like Suban, Dawson, Mzungu, de Boer, Spurr, Mayne etc. with limited skillsets who can't play multiple positions at anything better than VFL standard.

By this latest announcement I gather he's admitting defeat & going back to what he knows best - dour, defensive football that's 5 years out of date. :$

If the gameplan works for every team except the Hawks, I say go back to it. The Hawfs aren't going to be an issue in the near future.

Good summary but you've missed one point - football has been changing each year from a stoppage game to a game where the primary avenue to goal is turnovers.

A team built upon a stoppage game will not be able to score well (and even less so if you have no forwardline like Freo in 2016).
Basically, Fremantle are playing 2012 football and it's not working.

Exactly. Credit to Longmire for abandoning Ross Lyon's shizenhousen gamplan when he recognized he would never win another flag with it, although to be fair it was far easier for him than it was for Lyon to switch because he had a much more talented list, academies & COLA.

Ross is stuck with a list built to execute an obsolete brand of football. That's why they have absolutely no hope of catching GWS or the Doggies or half a dozen other teams I could name without a full rebuild. I've rarely seen a list more cooked than Freo's.

It failed because ex-Hawthorn players make shit coaches.

Ross has nothing to do with selections btw.

Ross Lyin won't be laughing when the reality of how shit Freo really are hits home, he will be begging to come back to Seaford.

Thanks for giving us Dempster and Schneider btw, they are still better players than 90% of the Swans list.
I still remember you bragging scott watters being a premiership coach at Subiaco.

Did you enjoy subiaco getting their bums... er i mean kim Kardashians handed to peel thunder?

Oh and well done on peel getting their 1st grand final win!

A team of AFL listed full time professionals beating a team of part time WAFL players, what a surprise.

Make the most of it, it's the only time you will see any Freo players win a premiership.

did freo... er i mean... Peel win fair and square?

Or did the umpires cost subiaco the granny?

Still... some of Subiacos premierships are tainted with salary cap breaches.

If I recall back when your team won 3 flags in a row from 2000-2002, your team had a list of west coast players in your squad.Am I right or wrong?

David... Your a nice flog. But I am in a mixed bag here....

I wouldnt mind your mob breaking the drought. On the other hand i got cash on the swans.

Long story short.... I put $100 on 2 teams to win the flag. Hawks were one of them, swans were the other.

I only put money on the hawk because i hated them. So yeah i lost out on them.

Before the finals, your mob was paying $41 to make the granny. i wish i chucked a $20 note on your mob!

More hands on?
He needs to be forcibly sent offshore during the trade and draft period because whenever he gets involved he f*cks it up.
The guy has no idea when it comes to trading and drafting. He is an epic liability.

Message to Freo FC:

Make sure RL is on holiday throughout October and November.
Tell him to go overseas and report back to work on 1 December.

His ability to f* up the trading and drafting period is legendary. He has no peer.
we wont trade pick 3 but thanks for your concern
