His whole persona is that he is a tough guy from the wrong side of the tracks (Reservoir). A working class boy come good. A players man. Someone who calls a spade a spade and isnt sucked in to the latest trends.

In reality he is an insecure coward. A bully who is tough in picking on the vulnerable young player or the junior assistant at work but who is completely gutless when it comes to dealing with his older players. He wants them to 'like' him'. He wants them to be his 'mate'.

Any tough bully tosser can ignore or pick on the young insecure player or the junior staffer. But Lyon is too gutless to upset the senior hacks he desperately wants to brown nose an ingratiate himself to.

'Loyalty' is simply a pathetic excuse for his insecure bullying lack of courage.

I agree with the Allcock clown. Freo are on track, they do know where they're going - down a slow death spiral at the hands of football's biggest fraud.

The club's #1 goal should be finding the courage to show him the door. Everything else pales into insignificance while he is still in charge.

To be fair, there has been an improvement since last season. Freo's percentage is up 1.8% as the new players gradually implement Lyon's ultra-defensive game plan. They managed to have 119 points less scored against them this season, which averages out to nearly a goal a game!

Alcock makes it clear that we don't see all the nice things that Ross says to the players as well. Nevermind ladder position or the skill level of the players, the important thing is that Ross has pleasant chats with players so they feel good about themselves when they go on their break and that Dale gets the privilege of observing it all.
