Licuria investigation completed

Wednesday, April 04, 2001

The AFL wishes to advise that AFL Investigations Officer Rick Lewis completed an investigation into an on-field incident involving Collingwood player Paul Licuria during last Saturday's Round One match against Hawthorn at the MCG.

A Notice for Investigation had been lodged by field umpire Mark Nash at the end of the game.

Following the viewing of video evidence and interviews with players and officials from the Collingwood and Hawthorn Football Clubs, it was decided there was not enough evidence to take the matter further.

And it is a joke for precisely what reason?

Did you see the alleged incident?

Did anyone actually see it?

All I've read this week is Collingwood supporters guessing at what might have happened. No-one but the players involved knows, and the investigator asked them and decided there was no case to answer.

Case closed. Get over it.

Well Whorethorn kids, What MG is referring to is how the bloody hell can a player get let off king hitting an opponent behind play and than the bastards have the nerve to fine Monty Burns for Wrestling(evening up the score somewhat).

It stinks!

Lack of evidence, what a load of shit.

A good poll would be who is more incompetent, the AFL Tribunal or Channel Seven?

Instead of crying to the media why didnt Collingwood and Burns tell the investigator if there was something untoward, im yet to meet anyone who actually saw what happened so ill take a guess and say Anthony Rocca fell on him afterr being utterly exhausted by running 100 metres to a contest. Just as believable as any other guesses

Do you think that the Hawk players were all lineing up one by one to tell the investigator that Lord hit him. Of course not. Any player from Hawthorne who saw it was not going to dob in his team mate. I am sure you wouldn't dob in a team mate. This along with Sevens piss-poor no camera footage is why the case is closed.

personally I'm still laughing about Aaron Lord cutting up warm favourites Carlton on the way to the another of their humiliating straight sets finals exits a few years back - the season that didn't end up with a 100 point drubbing at the Gabba but involved very few of Geelong's prize midfield of the time out thru injury and suspension... laugh? I nearly shat...

Go on, mention 99 again. I'll mention the Fraser Brown gratitude package AND the greatest market correction of all time... the 2000 dream season... hehehe

What we'll do is next time we play the squakers, we'll make sure than Anthony Rocca collapses on that prick Lord's head. No damage can be caused this way as like Chook features who is 23 going on 13 with his hairstyle, there is no grey matter in the skull cavity.

Will that count as a stat?

How do you know he got king hit?? Nobody knows. How do you know he didnt trip over his feet and knock his head on the gorund...how do you know he didnt accidently run into the back of someone, while not looking where he was going??

You dont know for sure what happened, stop for ****ing whinging

You and the Danny Bonaduce Fan Club must still have Crayons lodged in your brains!

There were plenty of people that saw what happened. Not everyone has there eyes on the ball at any given moment. For one Carpet Burns saw what happened and justifiably nearly took G.ay-Lord's throat out!

But at the end of the day, the decision came down to whether or not the Collingwood Football Club, produced witnesses. We are a stand up club, that whilst expresses anger at cowardly hits behind the play (and rightly so), doesn't go to the extent of dobbing in the snivelling little female dog from the opposition club.

We should be commended for this action, as opposed to being told (by the ignorant) that nothing happened. Many clubs could do well to understand and utilise the practice of keeping your mouths shut.

*Looks glaringly at the Brisbane Lions in particular*

We all know Lord did it. He has admitted it to several people (Sam Newman and Gerard Healy) . He says he was fending away. You can do that but not if you hit someone in the head as a result.

Typical Squaks response though. If no one hears the tree fall in the forest, it didnt happen even if the tree is lying on the ground.

And tell Chick to get a man's haircut.

Pack of whingers....

The best joke was last year at colonic when aforementioned Rocca and another player had Croady bailed up with the ball in a forward pocket.

Rocca gage great hip and shoulder... to his team-mate. Croady was too fast.

Would have been a crtain goal but croady set off up the field and gav his usual looon kick - straight to the opposition.

Does anyone else find it ironic that the people calling us whingers, are in fact substantially greater whingers than we Collingwood folk who have a genuine grievance to air?

I wasn't whinging anyway. Merely pointing out the way that clubs should never inform in opposition Cowards/Cheats. I guess the Magpies have set the standard once again!

What do you know? The Pez Dispenser is still around!

Remember when you are referring to whingers there is one group of supporters who wear that title as a badge of honour. I wont say who but they have been quite aggressive of late. I think you know who I mean though Pez. Save the title for them.

Figgy, your point might hold a little bit of water if the entire (non)investigation was brought about because of the Collingwood administration, especially Greg Swann, and their incessent whinging since Saturday afternoon.

And if, as you say, Burns saw the alleged incident, why didn't he tell the investigators about it? Seems to me that Burns had a guess what happened, the same as you did, but when pressed couldn't say what happened because he didn't see it!

By the way, nice work on the "Danny Bonaduce Fan Club"

Was that the year Essendon had a premierhip hangover and finished well outside the finals????

On this incident though, my Hawthorn supporting friend said to me before the investigation started that he'd seen the incident clearly and said Lord should get four weeks.
