Has some interesting info in it.. I certainly was one that thought we were no chance of getting Ball the second trade period ended.. This article keeps me content for the time being but as we have all been saying, the draft can not come sooner..

Ball is extremely confident of getting through to Collingwood at pick 30 in the national draft
Bombers chief executive Ian Robson yesterday said the club was extremely keen on Ball but had so far been unable to meet the 25-year-old.

Only thing that scares me..

Essendon coach Matthew Knights, at Windy Hill yesterday for the Bombers' membership launch, said he would have no hesitation in selecting Ball against his wishes.

While you are here, is there anybody that does not want to use Pick 30 on Luke Ball?

I gotta be honest with you - I am 50 50 split between Luke Ball and a Josh Thomas type... Which is effectively saying I am split between now and the future...

i'm not 100% keen on ball.

however, i do think essendon are idiots if they take a player against their will.

when was this article published, so we could know in 48 hours if ball is coming to us??,i still dont think we will get him.
Don't get your hopes up.
This whole issue works for all clubs as it keeps the focus on a single player and lets them go about the other business of talking to their real targets unfettered.

Now and the future...luke ball isnt 30...the bloke is 25 with years ahead of him.

there is absolutely no comparison at all between luke ball and josh thomas. Luke ball is a brilliant player, and would be our best 22 all season...and if we miss out on him ill be annoyed. No draftee would be able to make the impact that ball would make at collingwood in their first season.

Was hoping he would stay overseas until draft day was over.

Back here in Melbourne would make it easier for other teams to convince him to talk to them prior to Thursday.

Where they showed him training on the Tan is only about 200m away from the Lexus centre, wonder if he popped in for a coffee?

Without a doubt will have a greater impact in his 1st season if fit than anyone else at 30. Also in terms of types of players we need he also is a good fit.

But if not available then we will need to have others lines up to be able to choose from.

If you wate pick 18 on Ball that is ridiculous considering he is'nt worth pick 18 and he doesn't want to be at your club.

I call bullshit. Absolutely no chance whatsoever that you guys will use 11 on him and even at 18 I think you have much greater needs than another midfielder. Look at your midfield at the moment with Davey, Grimes, Jones and to a degree Sylvia depending on whether he plays more up forward, and add in Trengrove and Scully and its pretty obvious you have much more pressing needs. A ruckman or a tall backmen would be the more obvious choices. Still if you want to become the new Carlton and have a gun midfield with nothing else at either end that thats the perogative of your club

I'm torn, Hine may have another Beams squirreled away at pick 30 but Ball overcoming his injuries would be a force in our midfield.

Whether we actually end up taking him or not is yet to be seen, so until his name is read out on draft day... I wouldn't be to worried. But then again, anything can happen.

Yeah, a fit and healthy LB would be an asset, but if we don't get him IMO it's no great loss. Beams is a year older now, I think he'll be better this year than last, maybe not in LB's class yet, but what I've seen he will be.

Melbourne are just bluffing can't believe some of there supporters are actually falling for it. Am willing to put my house on it that ball doesn't play for Melbourne next year

lol what a joke these clubs are... Draft someone who wants to play for your pathetic clubs. Your not going to benefit by putting someone in your team who clearly doesnt want to be there. Oh yeah it explains the culture you guys have instilled that have left you sitting on the bottom of the ladder for all these years now. Talk about letting your supporters and club branding down. In all honestly none of these clubs look good by talking about drafting someone against their will to play for them. You want success, you have to get it by everyone working as a team. Leadership is one asset but how good is a leader who has come out and said he doesnt want to be apart of your club. I call a major bluff unless your club truly is stupid

Nothing new here really.

Dees are going to consider him as are Essendon and Brisbane.

I'm sure the Dees will consider several players at picks 11 & 18. It is widely reported the draft becomes very tough to separate the draftees after picks' 10/12.

Dees definitely won't take him with 11. In all likelihood Carlisle, Aaron Black & Daniel Talia will be available.
