Hugh Greenwood to pursue AFL career

Intersting news. Always was a chance I suppose given I can recall him talking up his potential as a footy player from way back in his Tassie junior days.
Although was probably never going to crack the NBA was nevertheless a good NBL prospect producing a solid college basketball career as a glue guy for a good team and may have been an NBL star, fringe Boomers player and good European pro. I guess like Jarryd Hayne you should chase your passion if this is his. Perth Wildcats must be pretty cut.

Yeah it's thrown there plans out the window. He could have been at worst a really solid NBL player imo. His shooting obviously needed a bit of work. But just about every facet of his game was very good. Taking a big risk at a sport he wouldn't have played for a while. But he does know a bit about adversity and being a team first guy at New Mexico. I'd probably back him to be a decent footy player at some point.

Pretty disrespectful after all this time chasing and signing him and promoting him. Just days before the announcement the Wildcats had a promotion to win a signed Greenwood jersey. It's kind pathetic but good riddance, can't have someone not in it 100%.

Not surprising really, the appeal to play in the NBL has got to be seriously low for anyone who feels they have a legit shot to play in another sport/league they would have to take a shot while they can.
