Pure numbers means we're never going to have as many quality comedians as the UK. But the best Australian comedians are on par with the best from anywhere. With a little more critical choice, we could do shows of similar quality. Hell, Have You Been Paying Attention hits the mark more often than not.

Yeah, I've always thought the issue was more our TV networks making shows with bad concepts (like The Big Music Quiz or Behave Yourself) and/or putting B grade network celebs on over actual funny people (like on The Big Music Quiz or Behave Yourself)

I'd kill for an Aussie network to make a local version of Taskmaster.

Imagine this. Long ago David Hughes found he could get more laughs as someone different. The 'Angry Everyman'. It used to be a gimmick. David thought that 'Hughsey' wasn't real, and even if he kinda was, that he could control him. Late one night as the lightning flashed outside throwing terrible shadows on his bedroom wall David fell into a troubled sleep.

Hughsey woke up the next day.
