So if Walker gets injured while Hurley is playing, it will be safe to say Hurley is miles in front then? Got it.

Tbh I think both players can be exceptional, however Walker WILL kick more goals in his career and Hurley will definetaly be a better utility player.
I would take the natural key forward everyday of the week though.

There is not a single person at an AFL club that would take Walker over Hurley. I know it, you know it, everybody knows it. Truly a mind-blowingly ridiculous thread.

should maybe take of your red and black shower cap, and have a geez whos leading the coleman after round six

Walker is looking immense at the moment. Hurley keeps getting hyped as a potential "top 30 player in the comp", but I haven't seen him deliver on it yet in his career. Revisit at end of year.

Forgotten tearing your mob a new one to get us into finals 2 years ago then?

Jesus Christ. Do I talk about everyone of Buddys match winning 4 goal + hauls from the last 5 years. Because there are dozens and dozens including a lot that are a lot better than Hurleys game in 2009 ( two 9 goal hauls against your mob for a start ). Why do you guys keep going on about this one game from 3 years ago where Hurley kicked a few goals like it defines Hurley as a footballer? For a truly top class forward, those kind of games and better games, come along reguarly.

The fact is, Hurley has been pumped up in the last couple of years in the pre-season and has failed to deliver on that hype. I'm not saying Walker will be better, but Walkers patch of form in the first 6 rounds this year, is better than any 6 game patch of form Hurley has strung together. That's not a slight on Michael because I know he has had injuries and been moved positions etc etc, and I think he will be terrific player. I don't know who will be better, but Walker is looking immense this year, that's all. Don't be so defensive mate and lets wait and see Walker and Hurley playout this year.

yeah, essendon supporters constantly trotting out that hawthorn game is so tiresome. i think thats a fair enough post NB.

Thanks :)

I really do think Hurley will be a terrific player. He has a massive burden of expectation on him from both internal and external people. And since that expectation is there, he will probably be judged by harsher standards than a lot of other players are. Rioli is a good example of this. People pump a young player up. Young player doesn't deliver consistently. So people become overly critical of him.

It's not a bad thing though, as it does mean Hurley obviously has tonnes of ability. KPFs often don't come on immediately though, so Hurley needs some time. He has had injuries as well. Even if Hurley doesn't rip the comp apart this year, it doesn't mean he won't end up being better than Walker in the long run. He just needs to settle in one position and needs to string games together. If this happens, he will more than likely become the player everyone thinks he will be sooner or later.

Career goals thus far

Hurley - Walker

Age: 21, 10 months - 21, 11 months

Games: 48 - 46

Goals: 51 - 95

Behinds: 35 - 62

How many games has Tex played down back???

But that is impressive number of shots on goal if correct

I'm not saying it is right or wrong, but there are quite a few people in Melbourne who share this view.

I agree, would love him down back, but we have a more pressing need for him to be played up front

I'll take he guy who is leading the coleman with the leg like a cannon thanks ;)

Just curious, if you had a choice, who would you prefer?

Tex Walker or Phil Davis???

footy was a lot better without so much people talking crap. People's perceptions change week to week about clubs, players etc... Frankly, its laughable. Hurley has been injured for a few weeks, Walker has been playing yet automatically Walker is better.....

Agree that Hurley is yet to rip the game apart but Walker hasn't either. These player comparisons make me sick. Basically it's just a pissing competition...

I'll just say that both will be important to their clubs future aspirations.

Bloody hell; relax mate - Walker has been good this year.

Needs to work on his defensive efforts; but would be starting in the forward line of any team in the league ATM.

Be a cold day in hell before I gave up Hurley for him, and 18 clubs in the league would take Hurley without a second thought ahead of him as well.

The first six games of 2012 (of which Hurley has missed two and a bit) aren't changing that.

go have a look at the last five seconds of the swans crows match if you want to talk defensive efforts champ....bombers supporters seem to think hurley is the second coming, oh sorry apparently all 18 afl clubs do aswell:rolleyes:

Walker. Considering how long Crows fans have waited for a capable KPF (Perrie, McGregor & Welsh don't count), and how many strong KPD's we have produced over the last few years. Phil is going to be a great player no doubt, but his particular skill set is more easily replaceable than what Tex is giving us.

Ugh.... you're one of those?

Weak.

Somebody better call Judd, Ablett, Selwood, Murphy, Mitchell, Swan, Pendlebury and co - Stanton has arguably been the best performed midfielder of the first six games this year - so clearly he's gone way past them all.

I must admit I do tire of dealing with idiocy on this site sometimes. The quality of conversation, posts and the general lack of any insight or understanding is taxing.

Franklin, Cloke, Hawkins, Crameri all have him covered or matched for contested marks, goal assists, tackles (Cloke slightly behind) and disposals.

Tell me again how awesome Walker is. He's played 50-odd games, but geez his last six have been reasonable

Ill take gun forward over gun backman everyday of the week and twice on sundays...totes

nothing like coming out of the woodwork and getting chirpy after one good game is it, especially when the other guy didn't even play.

Good luck to Tex and his mullet. There's still no club in the league who'd pick him over Hurley given the choice.

Oh dear, cant you handle being called champ...your one of those:D
Your post is a little off topic, its Hurley V Walker, not the entire essendon list!
I too tire of idiots like yourself making statements like "all 18 afl clubs would take Hurley over Walker everyday" simply not true.
I think you'd find Walker also would have gone very high in the draft if not for being a NSW scholarship signing.
I also think Hurley is an excellent player, as I have stated in above posts.
