Walkers got him at the moment, i have no fears regarding Hurley becoming one of the stars of the comp fwd or back, it's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when.
Back maybe - his hands are not good enough to be a star forward.
That's what happens when you play through a wrist injury that requires reconstruction.
Sounds like more excuses that we have been fed since his debut. Carey could not raise his arms above his head after 1996.
Carey was an absolute freak and I for one would never have mentioned the two players in the same sentence. I believe Hurley can become a very good CHF if he can get over his wrist and hamstring injuries.
I just don't see it - I can see him becoming a multiple AA CHB.

Bomber Thompson said in an interview on SEN that he wants to play Hurley back but the other assistant coaches want him forward.
Interesting - well at least now we will find out who is running the show at Essendon - if Hurly plays forward it is Hird driving the team if Hurley plays back Thompson is the puppet master.
How do you come to that conclusion?
Thompson wants him back - everyone else wants him forward. If he goes back then it confirms what most people think.

I really doubt that Hird would be referred to as other assistant coaches. A big part of the reason Hurley is played forward is simply that we had more fit defenders than forwards all year.
A 2 time premiership coach v a coach that has zero experience and has never coached a winning final.
Thompson is getting more than most head coaches - maybe Hird included. If both start talking at the same time I know who I would be listening to.

Down back.where would you want him to play being a Bombers fan?
I reckon Thompson is correct because there is doubt in my mind any player who comes into the system and has been given an opportunity to play multiple positions and then plays decent enough in defense, it's going to fast track his development as a player two-fold.
Countless defenders make the transition to forward effortlessly because they gain tremendous awareness, concentration, judgement and more importantly...get inside a forwards head so Hurley back for another 2 seasons and he will be quite a dominant force at both ends by 2015.
