I'm not super convinced Shuey will be an amazing captain, but it will be good to finally have one in the midfield again as opposed to our leaders being stuck deep in defence.

Feel like if they are going to have any meaningful on-field leadership they should be at the coalface.

A few exceptions like Hodge obviously.

Did he?

Thought he played a good wholesome father figure role during a very difficult era, but if the chips were down and we desperately needed someone to lift the side, what was he able to do? He had to worry about stopping goals or they'd lose, whereas midfielders have to be a bit more proactive.

I just think it's no coincidence that no other team other than St Kilda and WB have defenders as sole captains.
