hmmm, waiting to hear what Mead had to say re: Haynes.

I think we can all agree that haynes was very very good. He did the things he does very well, very well, if that makes sense. But having said that, I still think we are missing the player who can take the big pack mark in the forward line. We had our way with Richmond for most of the game, hence the delivery to the forwards was top notch, but I still think the forward line is missing one dimension.

How good was Darren Glass? Had a stiff run from the umpires on top of everything else. I think his spell on the bench put the icing on the cake. We could afford to chuckle at it (being 10 goals up), but how chuffed would he have been feeling when the player who he had reigned in for most of the night, takes two quick mark/goals as soon as he goes off. On top of this, how good does his game against Tarrant look now, after Tarrant beat St.Kilda almost by himself?

So who gets Lloyd, Glass or McIntosh after his *injury*? Couldn't see Carroll playing on Lloyd, maybe, maybe Lucas, surely not Hird. Incidently ... speaking of "selection due to match-ups" surely Collica gets the call up to play on Hird? Or do you run with Chick?

Early vote for Ugly: Carroll trying to barge through a pack of Tigers and giving away a horrible holding the ball. I'll admit it, I do a fair bit of Carroll bashing, i still think he is taking the place of someone of more potential, like Lynch, but as the season has gone on, the adjective reliable could be added to any sentence when mentioning Trent .... but I have a theory. He looks his best when he plays to his capabilities ... i.e he should know that he can't burst through a pack Juddesque, and should stick the to the team game.

bring out the scarves and bring on the scum, time to settle some scores.

My thoughts on Haynes are is that he played a bloody good game. If he can put in a performance like that at FF on a consistent basis, or even close to that level I'll be happy. I still think that he was given more than ample opportunity to do it though, and fear that it wont happen often enough in future.

Glass did ****ing well on Richo. A couple of the goals Richo got were when Glass had to leave Richo to attack the footy because someone further up the ground had lost their man. I thought he did a damn fine job on him.

He's playing solidly - certainly well enough to keep his spot.

And there is no way Collica will replace Green. Kasey spent some time in the centre square last night and did quite well. He's becoming one of our better utilities (and has probably done enough to earn a new contract).

Re: Re: hurry up Mead.

Haynes' kicking is the weak point, and it's improving quite nicely. His first two set shots were goals, he snapped a point and later on kicked a beauty from 50m on the run after beating his man and gathering on the wing. Add that to his other skills - quick lead, bloody good hands - and he's a very handy guy indeed to have in the forward 50.

PS: Eagles, please win this week.

Haynes did well, Im starting to think this small forward line is the way to go. Most teams dont have enough small backmen to match up on us, except for the bullies in which case i think we should put a tall forwardline in for that one game just to cause the mismatch!

Haynes was very good and certainly justified his place in the squad. Essendon next week is huge. I love beating Freo and Collingwood but nothing....NOTHING....is better than beating the Dons!

Haynes has been pretty good all year - I think you'd struggle to find to many forwards who have taken 6 or more marks in a match on 5 occasions this season through the first 9 rounds.

It's a damn shame he isn't 2 or 3 inches taller because that would make him a real handful.

He's one of the best leaders and marks on a lead in the competition, plus he's got the agility at ground level. He just can't kick from a set shot.

He's kicking on the run has been suprisingly very good though. Maybe when he takes a mark he can run around :D

that's a bit harsh. haynes would have been close to BOG last weekend.
