Hussey, Clarke, Katich, Watson Fail! WE WANT HODGE IN

What a joke that hussey got a game ahead of hodge. When are the vics going to be given a go? Husseywas always going to fail. Does not have the class of hodge that is required to make runs at test level

Re: Hussey Fails

Leave Hussey. One innings is a little unfair- give him another knock before calling for his head.

Clarke and Katich on the other hand..............

Bring in Hodge and bring back Marto!

Don't kid yourselves. Hodge would also fail.

He's just not that good.....
Ok then Mr Know It All, who should be batting there?

No1 in form batsman for the last couple of seasons and he cant get a game ahead of 1 season wonders like Hussey and Watson, you cant say a player isnt up to it untill they have been given a shot, Hodge is at the perfect age, a Watson you can use the excuse he is young, ditto Clarke. A Hodge or a Hussey are at the prime age to be playing for Australia and should be given an extended run in the side, of course Hussey will have to wait untill his state captain retires

I'm on the "bring back Martyn" band-wagon. He was our best batsmen last year and desperately unlucky in the Ashes. Katich and Clarke can bat, but their inexperience at test level has been their undoing. Martyn would play an important role of easing Australia through this transition whilst keeping the team at the top.

Hodge and Martyn for Clarke and Katich, I could handle that even if it meant Hussey would be on the side lines once Langer was fit.

Clarke fails too. Hodge is better than him also
Mate you're an idiot, Hussey is a gun, made over 15,000 first class runs and is more exciting than Katich. If anything, Katich should go.

But I guess since every batsman failed, the selectors wont make a change (they'll say, well, if everyone fails then it must have been a bad batting pitch and they can all be excused).

Hang on LTD, when we said we were happy with a Draw in Pakistan people said thats the difference between Aussies and Poms, Aussies expect success all the time and dont accept anything else, yet now you accept duds filling your team ensuring short term pain and losses in the hope of long term gains?

Craig White, Adam Hollioake, Ben Hollioake, Ronnie Irani, Oais Shah, Chris Silverwood, Mark Butcher, would you like me to go on? It took England nearly a decade of playing bit part allrounders to unearth Flintoff, then another 5-or so years for him to meet his potential. Not to mention the 16 years it took for them to produce a winning side. As much as brainless idiots like you seem to think that it's possible to maintain permanent success, it's better to ease younger players in while the team is on a downhill slope then have all the stars retire at once and endure a prolonged form slump (see Australia c. 1983, England c. 1987-90).

Exactly, we lost reguarly, but people keep telling us the Aussies dont accept losing, so surely you would prefer to go with players with talent and runs on the board than playing half your side purely on potential

Brad Hodge is the modern day Graeme Yallop, a short term fix which would mean nothing in the long run.

And yet Hussey is allegedly the future?

Hussey's another short term solution, Jacques deserves a spot, and Hussey's the type who can hang around for a few seasons until someone like Rogers or Dawson/Birt is ready to open with him. There's very few top class opening batsmen ready for a test spot in this country. Jacques and Hussey have the numbers so it's them until a few of the younger openers can step up.

Hodge is different. There's an absolute load of talented middle order batsmen who should be beginning to push for a spot. The middle order is the prime slot for blooding new batsmen, and seeing that we're obviously starting to slide, I'd rather see the selectors starting to play some kids.

Katich has got to go NOW! He didn't get a look in till he moved to the land of the Baggy Green (I'm sorry New South Wales) so it's time for Hodgey to get a guernsey in the next test.

Theres nothing to suggest that Hussey deserves to push out either Hayden or Langer yet

And there are heaps of middle order players? Really, where?

Geez, new excuses created every day to deny Hodgey a spot

Hodge deserves a spot drop clarke and katich if they dont do anything this series give them some more time in the state side same as watson..
Hodge should be in at number 4
Bring in hussay mike or david they both have been playing well at number 5 i know mike says he wants to be an opener for australia but the next aussie opener should be jacques after either langer or hayden retire..

Symonds should be the test all rounder he would bring the spark onto the field its what we are missing when we are fielding...
