Hodge deserves a spot drop clarke and katich if they dont do anything this series give them some more time in the state side same as watson..
Hodge should be in at number 4
Bring in hussay mike or david they both have been playing well at number 5 i know mike says he wants to be an opener for australia but the next aussie opener should be jacques after either langer or hayden retire..

Symonds should be the test all rounder he would bring the spark onto the field its what we are missing when we are fielding...
Bichel, we are not positive enough without him.
And the boy can bat and bowl.
Unlike Watson who can't do either.

Yep, another Knee Jerk, Lets drop half the team - they can't play at all. DROP EM ALL.

Bring In Hodge, The Hussey Brothers and hell bring back back some other reitred Vic - what about Deano.

Funny thing is after, one loss you lot will be calling for Clark and Watson and the guys you had just dropped to be reinstated.

Australia has to build for the future, Clark and Watson will be part of our future and they have to be persisted with unless things really go down hill.

Show some patience instead of Knee Jerks after every match

Give Hussey a break! The poor bloke has finally cracked it for a place in the team and now everyone's all over him! The sort of guy who'd be a good chance to make a 70odd in the 2nd dig.

CLARKE CAN NOT BAT, tell me where he has proved he can bat!! His FC average is a joke and his test average is an identical match. There a plenty of guys playing FC cricket in Australia who are far better than CLARKE in average and ability. I say drop him, he has had a taste, go back to FC cricket and score a mountain of runs...if he doesnt do well bad luck if he does then he will deserve his spot, at the moment CLARKE SHOULD NOT be playing for Australia, he has done nothing at FC level to earn it apart for playing for NSW!

I'm not so sure Hodge is the answer, but having Clarke and Katich in the same team isn't working either. When Langer is fit, which will hopefully be by the second test, why not move Hussey down the order and drop Katich. If Clarke doesn't perform against the Windies for the 3 tests, you'd have to consider bringing back Marto for the South Africans.

Because Hodge is better than Hussey and Hodge is a middle order batsman, Hussey is an opener that just made 1 opening the batting

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This team is undoubtably the worst we would have fielded in 15 years.
Hussey - excellent credentials but yet to prove himself at test level (not his fault)
Hayden - way way way past his best
Ponting - world class, make any team of almost any era
Clarke - averages <37 at a no.4, bring back Martyn!
Katich - NSW hack, useless
Gilchrist - best wk/batsmen of all time
Watson - what is he doing here?not good enough to make the team as a batter or bowler!
Warne - best spinner of all time, batting is taking off late in career!
Lee - sheesh, bowling allrounder? Has to make 40 each innings to make up for his 40+ bowling average in the past 4 years
Bracken - Token NSW fast bowler
McGrath - leading wicket taker for a fast bowler.

In our top 7 batsmen, never have we been more inexperienced. Since when have 3 of our top 7 averaged less then 40????
Bowling wise, Bracken and Lee are much better?? Both have got crap bowling averages!

IMO:

Clarke out; Martyn in
Katich out; Hodge in
Watson out; Langer in (to open the batting, Hussey at 6)

Bracken out; MacGill in.
Probably forced to persist with Lee!

Here are some stats that compare ponting to clarke after 28 innings of their test careers....the amount of innings clarke has now played. Clarke is slightly a head of punter with runs scored and his average so if clarke can't bat well ill run to china. For everyone who thinks clarke was a disgrace in England his stats are bolded...and they show greater consitency than most other Australian players in the series :

Punter- Clarkey

Hussey's another short term solution, Jacques deserves a spot, and Hussey's the type who can hang around for a few seasons until someone like Rogers or Dawson/Birt is ready to open with him. There's very few top class opening batsmen ready for a test spot in this country. Jacques and Hussey have the numbers so it's them until a few of the younger openers can step up.

Hodge is different. There's an absolute load of talented middle order batsmen who should be beginning to push for a spot. The middle order is the prime slot for blooding new batsmen, and seeing that we're obviously starting to slide, I'd rather see the selectors starting to play some kids.
What kids spring to mind?
