Opposite to the goal, but I think the cartoon is making a point about the results.
But the very point of socialism is that you would have a communal ladder for everyone to have the opportunity to climb up. It's as if the cartoonist can't conceive of having more than one person per ladder.

Socialist Government comes along and stops the squabbling of the populous. The point of socialism is equal outcomes, now both men have equal halves of the ladder. What do you know an unsatisfactory outcome.

I don't think that's an accurate analogy. And again, I think the cartoon is emphasising the results rather than the intentions, i.e. it doesn't work so well.

I agree that the analogy is poor, but that's what the cartoonist went with so I'm trying to use it too.

There's a difference, a BIIIG difference, in acknowledging an area of significance for a religious/ethnic group and actually subscribing/adhering to those same beliefs.

I don't believe in God, any God whatsoever, but I acknowledge the significance of Jerusalem to all three Abrahamic faiths.

Every leftie should watch this, just ******* brilliant.

Do you remember a time when "left" politics was primarily concerned with jobs, working class wages and conditions?

When it actually stood for something?

That man's anger is representative of the frustration I sense regularly from "old Labor" people.

As opposed to shouting?
False dichotomy.

I don't care much for the shouty left but I find it amusing you deflect by mentioning them. The good old fascist left, whatever that means, using harsh language and calling people bigots. So what? I was talking about your clueless liberal college girl meme.

Memes indicate to me you've failed in logical discourse - having to resort to an oversimplified image macro with some text that can be easily torn apart by critical examination, because any kind of in-depth analysis is discarded in favour of three word slogans and attention-whoring. But I suppose that's today's standard of debate with the conservative side of politics.

I expect Fat Yak to post some more inane Youtube vids to 'prove' something and for you to hammer the 'Like' button on any of the nonsense he posts.

Whatever.

Memes are just another form of communication. That particular one touches a raw nerve with you because it is so representative of the vacuous excrement that is undermining your branch of politics. You should clean house rather than start pointing fingers, but you can't because you know you will also be bullied and subjected to infantile emotional blackmail stunts.

I'm an old Labor man. Was even treasurer of my branch at one point.

Not any more. Over the years, I've discovered that I'm actually quite conservative socially - as were most Labor people back then.

In those days, the loony left consisted of a couple of fringe dwellers with weird personal habits...

This is the disenfranchised that is keeping Labor out of power.

There is a gaping hole for a new working class party with a practical nationalist outlook.

How's that Russian royal family going?
'Monarchy' - the idea that someone is 'born to rule', or even born to hold title in these days of constitutional monarchy, should be an ideal consigned to the dustbin of history the world over. The Bolsheviks were just a little more enthusiastic in carrying out the idea than I'd be.

I would have stripped their titles, lands and most of their wealth but spared their lives. Until they flipped to the White Russian side, and then they would have had to be dealt with like any other insurgent.
