I think their grouping together of Black African, Caribbean or Black British is invalid. You might call it racist. There's a vast range of cultures, traditions and backgrounds being assumed to have something in common because of their appearance.
The original paper does mention that as a short coming of the study a long with some sample sizes being vastly smaller than others. I think people were grouped to reduce wild data variance due to sample size.

Crusader Brown turns against wind farm
Former Greens leader and veteran activist Bob Brown is campaigning to stop a $1.6 billion wind farm development in Tasmania because it will spoil the view and kill birds.
The proposed Robbins Island wind farm in Tasmania’s northwest will be one of the world’s biggest, with up to 200 towers measuring 270m high from ground to blade tip.

If it goes ahead, electricity from the Robbins Island project will be sent to the mainland via a new undersea cable to help make Tasmania a “battery for the nation”.

But in a letter to local media and on his foundation’s website, Dr Brown has slammed the project, which he said had echoes of earlier attempts to build skyscrapers in Hobart which were stopped by protests.

Despite the criticisms levelled at former prime minister Tony Abbott and treasurer Joe Hockey for describing wind turbines as “ugly”, Dr Brown said the Robbins Island plan was, visually, a step too far. “Mariners will see this hairbrush of tall towers from 50km out to sea and elevated landlubbers will see it, like it or not, from greater distances on land,” Dr Brown said. “Its eye-catchiness will divert from every coastal scene on the western Bass Strait coastline.”

Dr Brown, who fought against Queensland’s Adani coal mine, said the world needed renewable energy to replace fossil fuels, and fast, but the Robbins Island wind farm “is an aileron too far”.

He said the public had not been properly informed of the private deals, or public impacts or cost-benefit analyses (economic, social, cultural and environmental) of what would be one of the biggest wind farm projects on Earth. He said details of the arrangements between the Hammond family, which farmed wagyu beef and owned the land, and developer UPC Renewables were not known. “Tasmanians have a right to know much more about the Robbins Island development,” Dr Brown said. “It is a huge resource extraction venture which will be lighting up no Tasmanian homes.”

How hilarious that this dude wants us to follow his Adani position unquestionably and yet is actually clearly campaigning against the type of power source he supposedly wants.

How, in any way, is this hypocrisy? Does the man have to support each and every renewable project each and every time in each and every location it is proposed, regardless of any other interests?

I don't like Bob Brown; I'm of the opinion that his formation of the Greens split the lefts vote in Australia and allowed the Liberal party to become the natural government. But this is more than a little bit silly. You have to squint really, really hard to see anything resembling hypocrisy here.

Because if you're going to criticise the burning of coal to make power like Brown has with Adani and pushed for renewable sources and then try to get a renewables sourced project blocked it is nothing other than being a hypocrite.

No different to those in the Catholic Church like Brohters saying that they would support children by taking them in and subsequently sexually abusin them.

This is you squinting really hard. Try opening your eyes a little wider.

Follow these, and you see that there are a number of issues concerning the Robbins island wind farm project, up to and including:

- the lives of endangers species, birds native to Tasmania.
- the impact the turbines would have to the tourism industry of Tasmania.
- the backroom deals which have brought the project forward.
- the fact that the power created isn't for the nearly 100% renewable energy state of Tasmania, and an energy pipeline would have to pass through 170 km of the Tarkine, a part of Tasmania that contains numerous nature reserves and parks.

There is no hypocrisy here. You're reaching. If anything, you should be more convinced - if Bob Brown, a lifetime campaigner for renewable energy sources, is against a renewable energy project - that the Robbins Island wind farm is a bad idea.

ROFL Brown is a hypocrite.

"This is not some sort of doom and gloom. The reef is half dead. And a major factor in that is the burning of coal."

Mr Brown said many Australians understood the inherent harm in allowing an overseas company to dig up Australian coal and sell it overseas, especially when Australia could be a world leader in renewable energy.

So he wants Australia to be a world leader in renewables and when they build renewable power options like Robbins then he turns around and complains and doesn't want it.

That's being hypocritical.

No, that's something that seems inconsistent until you dig a little deeper.

This, in a microcosm, is what's wrong with the SRP board in general. You've ignored my post completely in order to simply restate what you already posted, in order to rag on someone your 'side' of politics dislikes. You have created a stickman version of Bob Brown, who has to (in order to avoid being a hypocrite) assent to each and every renewable project regardless of where it is or any other consideration, whether economic or environmental. Were such a stickman to exist, it would indeed be a hypocrite, but that is why it is useless to construct a man of straw; Bob Brown's position on a number of things make this an entirely consistent call for him, and this decision makes perfect sense once you actually look at it. But that would be asking you to affirm your point of view with something that doesn't conform to what you already think.

We are in agreement about Bob the politician in that we don't like him - our reasons for that would differ, I think - but he is not being hypocritical here.

Well put.
But a waste of time, methinks.

Fascinating to watch social media like Reddit and Twitter slowly but surely censor more and more right wing content.

With people so addicted to SM and it being a main source for "news" now, it's a powerful tool for groupthink.

Is it though? I mean, what are his reasons for not liking the Robbins development? Do you even know?

His reasons for not liking the Robbins development have no relevance to the fact that he has made the comments as quoted about Adani above but doesn't stand by those when his desired outcomes don't meet his standards. Brown stated that we shouldn't be burning coal and wanting Australia to be a leader in renewables. Yet when projects are implemented to stop the two things that he is complaining about from Adani he turns around and then complains about renewables because they don't meet his standards.

The guy is a hypocrite.

Yes, but what specifically does he have an issue with? Without context you aren't giving him a fair go, you're just stating that all renewables must be good and there's an end to it. Remember, he first came to political notice with the Franklin Dam issue, and that was a renewables project he was against too (and for perfectly good reasons).

C'mon guys, this is complete and utter hypocrisy. There were so many articles and political cartoons made every time Abbott criticised wind power, yet here we have a greenie head honcho doing the same, and it gets defended.

It is baffling to me that anyone could support the greens. They seem like a party for miserable and angry people to miserably and angrily complain about everything.

Of course it's baffling to you, you take things on face value and believe everything that Murdoch tells you. Bob Brown has his reasons for being against this specific project, but you don't care enough to find out what they are. It's easier to let someone else tell you what to think.

Imagine if you were a fan of coal fired power stations and reckoned that there should be heaps more built, but when it was suggested that they build one in the middle of the MCG you said no. What a hypocrite you'd be!

I mean once you say that there should be more of something, well then they should just be built wherever the hell they want without any kind of consideration for anything else whatsoever. If you disagree with that then you're nothing more than miserable and angry people who miserably and angrily complain about everything.

Read the WAPO article around Bernie paying his campaign staff less than the $15/hr he advocates for. You can’t make this up.

You’d think that minimum pay rate, given his rantings, would’ve been the minimum offered.
Haha. You two didn't read the article did you?

That's exactly what the lowest tier rate was... $15/hr.

But it's an annual salary based on a certain number of hours.
They are working up to 60 hours a week, making it closer to $13/hr. They are fairly arguing to increase the annual salary to reflect hours actually worked.
