What is the context for this? How is this hypocrisy, exactly?

Explain this to me, because I don't understand.
Well, you see, Texan politicians of the right leaning variety constantly bring up leaving the united part of America and becoming their own country, they reguarly vote to restrict federal funding for other states and they actively go out of their way to make their own state more independent.

Such as having their own power grid. And now that its failing because they didnt bother spending the money to make their systems weather accommodating they are now asking Socialist Biden to help them with money.

Oh, and they are blaming their massive blackouts on wind power, something that provides them 5% of their power. You know, wind power that works fine in places like...Antarctica...

Hmm...

It sounds a bit silly, but politicians from states that were a bit reluctant to join the collective tend to have a bit of a chip on their shoulder regarding this kind of thing. Mark McGowan is a Labor politician here, and WA politicians have for a long time now made a number of gestures in the direction of secession.

I don't see it as hypocritical to ask for assistance from a government you're a part of, and I don't see it as a specific to right or left wing failing. If it's hypocritical to do this, your bar for hypocrisy is a bit low.

They were using Californias heat wave to try and score political points and prove their stance on things like climate, but when the tables turn to them they are the loudest criers for federal aid. THATS hypocrisy to me.

That wasn't in your last post.

Would you prefer they didn't ask for aid for their people? I'm struggling to understand what it is you think they should do.

Perhaps they should realise the part of being in a UNITED STATES of a country means, you know, being united in a way that doesnt make them look like idiots when things like this happen?

You want them to not possess personal opinions, concerning the state they represent?

Again: I think that if this is hypocrisy, your bar for hypocrisy is too low.

The main hypocrisy is that Texas wanted their power network to be independent from the rest of the country so they could avoid federal oversight, which resulted in them having a poor power network which means that they now have to reach out to the Feds for assistance for issues that resulted from them avoiding federal oversight.

And lets not get started about how a state that has been Republican for decades now blames their woes on the left of the Democratic party, who are nowhere near the levers of power in Texas. Kind of like how the Greens were at fault for the bushfires despite never being in power.
