It's difficult to defend many who will defend this government, they just reiterate that Labor were far worse before muttering something about a broken political system.

This government has been pretty bad so far, but there's a long way to go to match the awfulness of the Gillard government. Easily the worst government in living memory, and Gillard may yet end up in prison. Abbott has done hardly anything yet. The left mostly hate him for the same reasons they hated him before the election even took place.

They cut spending in real terms. Thus they get a pass. Maybe a 5/6 out of 10 as they were too gutless to really cut spending by the large amount required. A pass nonetheless.

One wonders how it is that fanbois criticise Howard for spending too much and Abbott for cutting spending.

Depends what is spent on, and what is cut.
It's not just an increase or decrease across the entire board.
