Daicos has been at the top end of all midfielders (regardless of stats) for the past 3 years.

Let's see if Darcy ever gets to the very top end of key forwards on season output, because right now he's behind Cameron, Thilthorpe, Georgiades and Naughton for 2025.

And this has been his best season, by far.

Key forwards take a lot longer to come on. Fact.

The thread title is who you’d prefer. Some have said Darcy and others Daicos.

Just accept it mate. Nobody is saying Daicos is no good. I think he is universally regarded as an elite player. You simply can’t handle an argument to supporting Darcy or preferring him.

To me it seems that no player in history has triggered Pie Fans like Sam Darcy.

It's such a shame that these threads turn into this. Perhaps there are particular things that one of the player brings over the other, that one would want on their team and ultimately that's all the thread is about. It goes both ways, clearly I have a bias towards Sam Darcy, primarily because we've already got him but also it has as much to do with me watching Ayce Cordy

as our key forwards as having a pretty good midfield for as long as I can remember watching my team.

Nick Daicos is an incredible footballer. He's already at a level where he's comfortably had one of the best young careers of any player in history. He will win brownlows, all-australians, he will deserve all the accolades he gets, he will get to higher levels than he is at now but where he is different to Sam is that he's going to do what he's already doing, but at an even higher level.

Sam Darcy is potentially an incredible footballer, statistically, some of the stuff he does is off the charts when being compared to his peers (positional peers, not age). What he's done with so few games under his belt already is incredible, but the excitement around Sam is as much about what he has done as it is about what he will potentially be able to do once he gains size.

It's perfectly fine to say both are amazing, and even pick one you'd prefer, but it has nothing to do with shitting on the other or comparing stats between the two.

Certainly not if there is a marking contest.

When we got Darce he was still growing a few cms a year, and suffered a few random injuries - hes only played 43 games.

Nick hit the ground running and has already played 90 games - thats a feat in itself, but it highlights the difference in AFL experience. What we are seeing now is peak Daicos, which is great stuff. More experience from here sees him becoming more consistent, but you have a good handle on what he is capable of already.

We still dont know what Darce is ultimately capable of, and probably wont for another 2 years.
