Depending on what Adelaide get for lever we should table Stratton, would be the perfect replacement and age profile while theyre chasing flags
This isn't that dumb a post. I agree he would do well there and get help get a flag. They also would rate him for his Betts beating abilities and they just lost a flag due to a whole bunch of small forwards tearing it up

He's also a leader and has a bit of campaigner in him

PS: Why not Pops to Crows? Eddie is on his way out and Charlie C might go?

Stopper of small forwards in Strats and forward pressure South Australian in Pops.

We get Lever and a swap of picks

Eddie has a 3 year deal - he's not on the way out. Poppy is only 13 months younger also so I don't think the Crows would jump at the idea of him. They'd want someone much younger.

Huh what? Stratts... Are you serious? Rated highly at Hawks, but unsure outside us.
Not a completely stupid post. Would definitely not be a straight swap but Stratton and a future first would give pause for thought. This is completely hypothetical though; we're realistically zero chance of getting Lever through.

Brad Scott said Pick 4 is on the table for the right player... That opens a lot of doors for us, surely we can convince the Roos that Kurt Heatherley is the right player.
I think all the North Melbourne recruiters now have a wrist strap with the words, NEVER TRADE WITH HAWTHORN as reminder heading into trade week.

Well, isn’t this a coincidence. Clarko has just found some magic beans. He really doesn’t want to trade them, but might give them to North for pick 4 if they beg.

It's North, we could convince them that Surman is the right player and is still on our list.

Either way, means they might go hard for a creative backman. Birchall is an upgrade on Shaw; I mean interest is not likely considering his age, but wouldn't surprise me.
I'm not an advocate for trading Frawley because I really like what he brings to our side - but he may be more of the player they'd look to.

I'd rather not trade Frawley or Birchall to be fair. I think they'll be vital next year, but I still feel like Birchall is the type of player they'd want considering they'll be losing Wilson and Shaw, and they've already got Haynes, Tomlinson, Corr, Davis as well as Buntine waiting in the wings.

We're not getting Lever. He wants big $$$$$$$$, and the Dees have decided to throw it around.

Realistically Poppy is pretty close to cooked - he was noticeably less effective this year in terms, although to be fair our forward line was pretty dysfunctional for a large part of the season. Given he is almost 30, if someone is willing to offer a multi year deal for him we owe it to let him decide what he wants to do.

What's happening in AFL is similar to what happened in cricket about 20 years ago - players are now able to physically play for longer (although not at peak performance). Part of the reason you had so many one club players in the 'old days' was everyone retired around 30 because they needed to support themselves - these days a lot play to 34-35 and earn enough coin to set themselves up for life.

They may not play for teams in the window, but the experience is invaluable to a team that either lacks senior players or is rebuilding. Lewis at the Demons is a great example and Poppy to GWS would be another one.
