We could get something substantial from Gold Coast for Liam Shiels, considering the picks that they have. As much as I hate to have players like Pup leave the club, maybe that's a road the Hawks go down?
A leader in the lower age bracket will not be traded unless he approaches the club and says he wants out.

Not going to happen.

Bushrangers, Kings,
Agreed.

We should just smash the DRAFT with picks between 50-80 & just land like a bunch of A Graders that beg to be paid unders & just never like ever want to leave.

Also, Premiership Players that physically peaked in 2013 should just harden up & not let their performance deteriorate as they get older; that way, we'll never need discuss 'Achee' types in our Hypothetical Trade threads, again.

James Cousins and Harry Morrison send there regards.

He played 15 games still. Irrespective of that his game style relies on a lot of gut running, at his age I'd be surprised if he can keep it up over a season - if someone comes in with a multi year offer I think we don't stand in his way, especially if it facilitates a trade and we're not going to offer him more than a year.
I wouldn't say his game style relies on gut running.....its more so repeated sprints in a specific area of the ground.
The assertion was he was cooked, but the reality is everyone gets injured at some point and he has showed no signs that he has lost any of his pace.

His last couple of weeks alone showed he wasn't cooked
He just had an injury ruined year which happens
We need him as his best is critical

He missed a third of the season and is hitting 30. I wasn't saying he was terrible, rather that I don't think he's going to either improve or hit the heights he has in the past. Apologies, using the word cooked maybe overstating it, but I'm not sure we can rely on him to do what he's done for the last few years, in which case it may be best for all parties to take a trade if it's on the table. Poppy gets extra years to top up his super and we get to move on a 30yo and bring in someone younger.

I think we need to get our heads around the fact that players don't have to be cooked to be tradeable.

The whole premise of "Poppy is still capable, so we shouldn't trade him" is odd.

It's the exact reason he could be a trade asset for us, and value for someone else.

In fact a player being cooked makes him pretty much untradeable, unless he's got something else to offer (like Hodge to the Lions)

Yes but having value is no reason to just go ahead and trade either

Kennedy looks all but certain to land at Carlton.

Very frustrating to see all of these GWS kids go to the Blues for peanuts and we don't even get a look in.
It is a bit frustrating, but that is also assuming we were interested in him in the first place.

At least this indicates that the nominations will start rolling in

Is Carlton likey to be crazy good in a couple of years? Kind of feel like they might

Worst thing is that Bolts makes me like them a bit

why are Carlton trying to take all the guys we're interested in?

Rory Atkins from adelaide could be an interesting pick up

with this draft being kinda weak, i hope we look into VFL/SANFL/WAFL talent and trades for not stars but some blue collar hard nuts, because winning finals you need tough players like Cotchin ect and less guys like Tex Walker who wasnt physical at all...

if Tex had hit someone like Roughy did to Hannebury he wouldve had more influence on the result by getting into the heads of opponents other than prancing around not being a danger

I note Kennedy did not play in the last two games. Was he injured or just not selected? If the latter, I would not necessarily get too upset. We can't pick up everybody.

oh no, i meant Carlton are into Rockliff, Kennedy, Atkins ect ect ect.....

also i think GWS went with Hopper ahead of Kennedy even though i think Kennedy is a better player, but internally GWS have made that decision whether it be right or wrong we will wait and see, not one is infallible
