Can't remember Rance or Hurley holding the likes of Kennedy to a few kicks and 0.0 score in a grand final.
He done his job! why does one game make him exempt from from future criticism? It's a weak and pathetic argument, Chip isn't Rances left boot.

I don't remember Dangerfield having 25+ touches on GF day, surely means Xavier Ellis is still best 22? Get him out of retirement haha

It's not one game; Kennedy, Franklin, Dixon all hardly kick a goal on him. He's great for the mobile forwards because he's physical and he's quite pacey, plus his defensive craft is better than Brand's. Best case scenario is leave Brand on Lynch, Brown, Daniher and the like with Frawley playing on Franklin, Kennedy, Dixon.

No he's not Alex Rance, but he was still one of the best defenders in the comp at one stage - and if we can get him playing with our midfield not conceding ridiculous amounts of inside 50s he'll be back to his best.

I respect your opinion but I'll respectfully disagree, I think KB is a better option.

We conceded 60 inside 50s to Geelong in Rd 4 vs 36 inside 50s in Rd 17. That helped to make our defense look a lot better.

Realistically, it doesn't matter what your opinion is because we're going to play with two KPDs. Every other good club does.

Adelaide: Talia, Lever/Keath/Hartigan
Geelong: Lonergan, Henderson/Taylor
Richmond: Rance, Astbury/Grimes
GWS: Davis, Corr
Port: Hombsch, Clurey/Austin
Sydney: Grundy, Rampe/Melican (probably the only exception to the rule as Rampe and Melican aren't true KPDs)
Essendon: Hurley, Hartley
West Coast: McGovern, Barrass/McKenzie

So be it, I think that's the best way forward anyway.

100% agree. Absolutley need two defenders capable of playing on tall forwards. Frawley is a must keep. Brand will continue to get better.

The question that needs to be asked is what age do we determine a player not part of our next premiership. Regardless of our personal feelings the club has shown it can be ruthless. If there is any chance we can acquire a 10 year future player anyone over 26-27 on our list is expendable

We need to be careful though
Picking up even 1 quality midfielder can propel you from a mid tier team to one contending for a flag quite quickly
Look at Geelong

There are certain 26-28 year olds on our list who are untouchable for me
Gunston, Breust, Rioli, McEvoy, Smith

With Martin not going I would hazard a guess that the odds of Kelly ending up there would plummet - because Norf plus Martin would be slightly appealing but Norf without Martin is about as appealing as a kick in the groin with the back end of a bus.

This means Norf should get crazy desperate. I wonder what kind of whacky trade we can lure them into. I reckon if we offered them Surman and Fitzpatrick they'd probably give us their first round pick and Ben Brown.

Without the obvious (15 'A graders', 40,000 more supporters, a real coach etc.), what is it they need most?

KPD? KPF?

Do they not now send an $4m, 5yr deal Lever's way?*

Brand + 2017 3rd (42) + 2018 2nd (approx. Pick 25) for North Melbourne's 2018 1st (approx. Pick 5)?

Our 2018 1st (approx. Pick 12) for Lever (we keep North's 2018 1st).

*Don't think they'd get him, even at those numbers.

I'd rather trade Frawley and get Lever in that scenario. Brand is going to be a keeper.

I don't disagree - just don't see @Go North! making that trade for guy Frawley's age.

They're basically starting fresh & chasing a 29yr old CHB in isolation is largely pointless, so I figured they'd prefer Brand (& we'd hope that Nash comes on).

The only club I can see seriously considering Frawley on 'needs' purposes for the short-ish term is GWS! They have Davis as a KB and that's it. They are the only club that would be willing to part with a high pick because of the need for KB in the short term.

Hmm... I wonder what they'd trade if we offered them a KPP?

What's with everyone wanting to get rid of Frawley or Brand?

Brand is just starting to really come good and it would seem Frawleys best is quickly forgotten.

Let's get rid of key backs, a position we have so much depth in. o_O
Exactly. Any suggestion of trading Frawley is laughable considering our key position stocks are paper thin.

Depth
Schoenmakers: He is a last resort and one I hope we never have to see
Heatherley: no guarantee he'll be on our list for next year
Nash: rookie list

I think Kurt might find his way elsewhere, Bulldogs perhaps.

I keep hearing that we are going to be chasing Whitfield but I fear the hate I will get if I mention the name that keeps coming up in that trade

Depends on the source you've heard that name coming from.....
If it's legit, it will stir some vigorous but interesting debate.
If it's from some bum punter like me, then you'll likely get a good roasting.:p
So uh, whaddya been hearing?
