The VFL record is out this weekend and are giving away several season passes to the best team put up. Get along to pick up your copy of the VFL record to see who made the VFL Record's (hyposthetical) VFL state team this year, as there is no VFL state game.

My team to date this year would be:

BACKS: Andrew McLean (Geelong) - Kris Pendlebury (Collingwood)- Michael Stockale (Casey)

HALF BACKS: Tim Mohr (Casey) - James Wall (Casey) - Tom Sundberg (Collingwood)

CENTRE: Ben Sharp (Werribee) - Mark Corrigan (Geelong) - Adam Iacobucci (Northern) -

HALF FORWARDS: Ben Duscher (Bendigo) - Luke Clark (Frankston) - Patrick Rose (Port Melbourne)

FORWARDS: Ahmaed Saad (Northern) - Dean Galea (Port Melbourne) - Matt Little (Bendigo)

RUCKS: Russell Gabriel (Frankston) - James Magner (Sandringham) - Myles Sewell (North Ballarat) -

INTERCHANGE: (From)/ Chris Doria (Frankston) - Nick Carnell (Coburg) - Brett Goodes (Williamstown) - Sam Gibson (Box Hill) - Orren Stephenson (North Ballarat)

Probably missed some guys, but a decent crack.

Have a crack at your own teams, based on this seasons form of VFL listed players ONLY.

I was looking forward to the VFL V SANFL state game this year as we are due to play you guys but I gather it aint gunna be happening this year because of the Foxtel Cup? Haven't heard anything at least nor can see it in the fixtures.

As far as smokies go, 18-year-old Willie Wheeler from Coburg has been featuring in the best regularly since being promoted to the seniors.

His game against Collingwood was impressive, along with another youngster in small forward Dylan Murphy kicking six goals. They may be a couple to follow to see how they progress throughout the year.

McLean's been great, pity he's not younger or he might have a good shot at the big time.

Corrigan's been really good as always but my team wise I'd actually say Matty Firman would be more deserving of a spot in this team, hasn't missed a beat this year as with every other year. Still one of the premier small defenders going around in a team that's getting beaten every week. Although I suppose with the form of Stockdale you feel you've got that spot covered HFF?

Willie Wheeler should be considered, very promising as Blackout said

On Dylan Murphy...he is a top player, kicked 3 or 4 goals every week in the reserves for the Bergers and with his twin brother Kane, they cause havoc, it's like having two Jake Kings

I like Stephenson over Gabriel, no love for Shane Valenti? although again I really only see Coburg games so can't make many comments

Spot on assesment blackout, quality player and a quality kid too from a top family hailing from the small hamlet of Avenel, where one Barry hall played in a U/18 premiership in 1994. Willie is also the nephew of the former Footscray back pocket and coach, Terry Wheeler. He is still a listed Seymour player in the G.V but it looks highly unlikley that we'll see him in lions colors this year given his form down town, by god we could use him !

Agree, very impressed with both of these boys. Have watched Dylan Murphy over many years, he is a class act.
