Ok heres a hypothetical.

The amount of games a father has to play for his son to be eligible for the F/S rule is 100.

Now for Example Player X is an absolute superstar, Chris Judd + a bit more and is 2 years away from being drafted (And being touted as the best player ever)

His father Y has played 99 games for the GFC and we will miss him becuase his dad hasn't played enough games.

Would you draft his 50 year old father late in the draft (the year before) just to play that one game, so we get one of the best ever?

Opinions...

interesting thought though - it may be frowned apon but then nobody frowned apon other teams for throwing games to get good draft picks.

It's already been done. Brisbane wanted Steve Lawrence a few years back so they got Barry Lawrence in his mid-40s or whatever to sit on the bench in the QFL for a game. Then they drafted him under father/son.

Interesting question, the AFL would almost certainly block it though - attempt to rort the draft.

The closest past player we have to this description is Colin Rice, but he only played 97 matches, the last of them in 1963.

Interesting thought...I'd do it despite all the flak that I'm sure would come our way. However I'm sure the powers that be would make a change to the rules to prevent such a farce from occuring and to block any future attempt.
This would never happen but at the same time I would love to see the result of this occuring.

i'd do it in the blink of an eye to secure a player that is going to be equal or better than Judd...

Chris Judd is the difference to winning a premiership and falling short yet again!

Like the thought. Interesting thought.

If we get like pick 1 or sommat, we could draft him anyways. Maybe we'll get lucky and get him anyways.... Let's wait for the next draft and see...

Most interesting comment of this thread and everyone ignored it. Thanks though
