You really think sponsors would ask for money back after the team died in a plane crash? The negative publicity would be incredible.

I dont think its as unfathomable as you do

There would be plenty of causes in their agreement that the deal is cancelled if the team doesnt play/wear the sponsors logo etc, so it may not be a matter of asking for the money back but rather a case of the club having come up with an argument of why it still gets the money

It could become a case of "show us what you can do for our company now otherwise we are withdrawling our funds" and maybe they can come up with something

And there is no reason this wouldnt happen behind closed doors as most current sponsorship arrangements already do.
