Nah, I disagree. You're getting confused with the All Australian selection which has now descended to high farce.

Apart from the contrived win of Christopher Judd recently and the non win of Dane Swan two years ago it usually has a worthy winner.
Nat Fyfe is now having a game deciding influence on matches and if you're impact on a game affects the outcome , you are in medal winning company.

Agree, Fyfe has some work to do but there is no questioning that when he is on, he simply dominates the opposition. Even as young as he is opposition fans rate him very highly. He isn't just good at winning contested ball, he is one of the best in the league, and in the air he marks anything kicked near him. He doesn't just read the flight and position himself the best, he holds the marks he gets hands to. He makes decisions as quickly as anybody too, its very rare that you think he had a better option than the one he chooses. Also he isn't a player that relies on his team mates having big games to play his best footy. Even when Freo are getting out classed he still is able to dominate, like Cousins, Hird or Ablett jnr could/can.

The question will be if he can get his body right, both with injuries and getting the right fighting weight. Hopefully he isn't too big to run games out. But if he puts together a Brownlow year, it won't be a sneaky Woewodin or Judd of the Blues variety Brownlow.

But the Brownlow celebrates the best and fairest in the AFL. Of course, it's impossible to do that because there's such a discrepancy in what everyone reckons makes the best footballer. But I don't think many people think of Fyfey as the best in the competition: He isn't. If you put aside potential and age and those factors, and just go on their current performance, there's 15 blokes who are better than him.

Matthew Pavlich is a better all round footballer. He could also change a game much more efficiently than Fyfe. But he's unfashionable to the Brownlow system, which isn't his fault, but the vagueness of what a Brownlow medalist should be.

Nat Fyfe will become one of Freo's best evers. I'm proud he's at the club. He's the kind of footballer every fan wants to epitomise their club (aside from Pav). But by no way is he the best footballer going around. He might be one day, though.

Reckon he'll still poll the most votes for us this year, easy.

Anyway back on topic, how about that media in this town, tsk, tsk.

To be honest, most people involved that deeply in the game are going to churn out similar votes. It's very much a sport of sycophants, circle-jerks, and unoriginality. This isn't Fremantle bias, but I do think Nat Fyfe will win it: tidy skills, seems to be everywhere, can kick a goal, has a bit of media attention, and isn't a dirty player at all. But no way is he the best player in the competition... I'd be wary throwing him in the top ten. It's just an indictment on the whole thing.

The 3, 2, 1 voting system is the main problem with the medal. Is the best player on the ground often 3 times better than the 3rd?

yet the only one that is talked about in the season is the Brownlow. Same with All Australian. the AFL should work to make them what they are meant to be.

how long has the 3-2-1 system existed? I would think it'd be one of those things with tradition that the afl would be frightened of tampering with... you know... like the rules

Sandi sure had a big growth spurt this off season.

"Sure, our ruckman grew 18 metres this preseason, but that doesn't prove anything."

A bit of classic chip on the shoulder stuff on the West at the moment.
Headline :
Former Docker Croad in peptide 'deal'
Revelations emerge that Trent Croad was involved in supply deal linked to bikies.

It turns out in the story that Croad once went to a business meeting and was surprised to see Bikies there. He had no idea they would be and had nothing to do with them. In the article (and original headline) he is referred to only as a Hawthorn player. The West changed it to Docker.
Underneath is this.
Eagles' culture 'change'
Article about how West Coast are so awesome and have the highest standards about what is and isn't acceptable behaviour. You know, since they got rid of all the addicts playing for them.

I don't normally buy onto this conspiracy carp but this is just lame by the West. The article about Croad is so full of innuendo and suggestion that there is something big and sleazy going on but without a single actual fact.
Journalism is getting worse!

This is my seventh year now, without having bought or read The West Australian.
I feel a sense of satisfaction whenever people highlight how pathetically amateurish they are.

Do yourself a favour and boycott the paper; you'll feel much better whenever you hear from others, that their obsequiousness to West Coast is alive and well.

Incidentally , how much money am I depriving them of for each edition, now ?

worth it to have something to clean the bbq with.

The Sunday one is good for that.

The Sunday Times is fast heading towards getting cancelled by me as well....Braden had better lift his game real quick.
The truth be known, the best source of excellent reading on Football is this site but the Sunday Times is basically a ritual for me , so it stays ..... for now.

Got the scoop on tomorrows Worst Australian.

"FREMANTLE ROOKIE, CRAIG MOLLER, EXPOSED AS DOPE FIEND"

MolyShit_zps43927c4e.jpg

The football community is reeling after information surfaced last night revealing Fremantle Dockers Football Club rookie listed ruck/forward, Craig Moller, to be the individual under investigation for illegal abuse of PED's.

Very little is known about the details of Moller's situation, however the photographic evidence unearthed by sportshitfirst.com's Tim Dagdorn, just last night appears damning.

In the photo it is clear to see that Mollers physique seems unusually lumpy and firm, especially when compared to the perfect and naturally athletic build of All-Australian ruckman Nic Naitanui.

He's gone on record to say he is going to sue Fairfax media, who originally ran the story, and those that repeat it with defamation. Hope The Worst gets thumped by the courts
