I confess that, despite the end of last year, I was pretty confident Gold Coast would at least be challenging for the finals. I also thought GWS were still way off the mark.

Different sport, but I've never been more wrong about someone than Steven Smith. Didn't think he was a cricketer's arsehole. I've been owning up to that one for the past 12 months (and hopefully the next three).

-Thought John Anthony was the second coming of Phil Carmen halfway through 2009.

-This was going to be Josh Thomas' break out year, and he was going to be a Priddis type midfielder

-Michael Hurley would never come good and was on the Courtney Johns express.

-Thought James Kelly was no good until about 2009.

-Barry Hall would be no good at Western Bulldogs.

-Elliot Yeo would be no good. He's proving me wrong now!! (So did the above two)

I thought schoenmaker was going to be a good foil for rough when buddy left

I thought west coast were crap watching them in round 1

I thought the essendon saga would be done and dusted and players would have started serving their suspensions

I WAS WRONG

I'm not going back further than this season, I will be here all night

I have no issues with people writing us off at the start of the season - hell I was on that bandwagon too

However the Rd 1 match against the bullies was a belter of a game - surprised you thought we were crap then

Our next 3 or 4 were bog ordinary, including a couple of big wins and the Freo loss

I thought in this sensitive modern feelings era nobodywould ever beat the blunt honesty of the sledge given to stephen milne by mick malthouse on an afl ground.

Sam Mitchell proved me wrong :)

I guess watching Jack Anthony's early games where he played well, and then watching him kick a winning goal in a final didn't help but for quite some time I would say he could still be a forward weapon. Although I still check out his stats at the Southport Sharks...I was wrong about that in the end.

I was at that game and the skill level was appalling - I actually messaged my nephew and told him that it was going to be a long year for eagle supporters - suffice to say, he has been messaging me weekly :D

I genuinely, 100% convinced myself that Butcher would be a reliable 50+ goals a season forward for us by now. Would be more of a surprise if he WASN'T delisted at the end of the year at the moment.
