Cane toads may be pests but they don't deserve torture like that, kill them if you have to, but leave the sadistic shit out of it please. It's not the cane toad's fault it's an ecological pest, not like it can help being a cane toad. I hate the w***ers of that video more than I ever will a cane toad. Remember, cane toads were introduced to control the cane beetle. So really, it's not really their fault, ultimately it is humans to blame. Then people do stupid shit like burning animals alive simply because they don't belong there, and were at the wrong place, at the wrong time. Morons who call themselves 'conversationalists', when in reality, they are a bunch of rednecks who are closet sadists and are exercising such a want on an animal where they will most likely not get into trouble doing so.

If someone can't see the distinction, then I truly pity them. Don't care what animal it is... dog, cat, cane toad... if it feels pain... then put it down quickly if you have to. Don't accuse me of being some kind of granola-eating hippy either, because my beef isn't with killing per se. Ultimately it being a "cane toad" doesn't ****ing matter when it comes to shit like this, nbaman1. Regardless if it's a pest or not, it's still a living creature that can feel everything that is being done to it, not some inanimate object.

So much this, even though the toads are a very bad pest it wasn't their idea to suddenly leave their native habitat and go to a different country.

Importance? To whom? You? Another irrelevant point. Ecologically speaking, if all humans suddenly disappeared, life on this planet will still push on. In fact many animal species would thrive. Remove all the spiders for example, and the impact would be a lot bigger. That cane toads may serve no purpose (to you) means absolutely nothing regarding my point.

FWIW there's plenty of evidence up this way to show that a few of the local predators are learning how to chew on the old cane toad without killing themselves in the process.

I've seen plenty of them around that have been flipped onto their back and carved up. Don't know what's doing it but I'd reckon birds of some sort. Evolution at work I guess.

FWIW the Stop the Toad foundation that operates in NW WA captures toads and kills them by CO2 gassing.

Cane toads, foxes, feral cats etc. I'd be happy to see eradicated form the continent altogether, but there's nothing to be gained from torturing them. I mean plenty of people make a living from shooting roos and birds, and plenty slaughter animals for us to eat - but there's a big distinction between killing an animal and wanting to see it suffer.

Pishaw to freezing them. No way i'm going to even handle one through a plastic bag. My weapon of choice is dettol/water, 60/40, in a spray bottle, aim and fire so to speak. They hop away to die. Some locals get in lots of golf practice with them. My pets are more important.

FYI the big fat ones are female so if you get one of them, bonus, no more baby toads.

The term vermin relates to animals or insects (pests) that adversely impact on human activities. So technically, neither humans or cane toads are really vermin...although some individual people are probably vermin I guess...

And yes I know this is just semantics..

I agree that every effort should be made to wipe them out here, although it seems like there's f all chance of that actually happening now..
