I probably don't know all the facts, but I don't care.

I sure as hell don't want any picture of Tasmania on the front of the jersey. If this is the case, i'm not renewing my membership next year.

I'm sick of this bull****.

Its a deal that has set us up majorly to continue our off field success.

Yes, im not a huge fan of the "Tassie Hawks" thing, but its only a sponsorhip thing. WE ARE STILL HAWTHORN!

You often hear Collingwood referred to as the Lexus Magpies. Its exactly the same as that.

The Tassie logo will be exactly the same as another friggen sponsor on our jumper anyway. Thats no biggie at all..

But having said that, NO MORE TASMANIA DEALS HAWTHORN!!

The Colliwobbles have the United Arab Emirates as sponsors, and their name splashed on the front of the guernseys. Sheesh I know who I would rather have on MY guernsey..No comparison...At least we are all Aussies supporting each other..

PhilHawk,
Hate is a very strong word. Do you want the Hawks to survive in the future? We have to take what we can to ensure that we have a future.
If you love the Hawks as do the majority of us, surely we have to accept that what has been offered to us is for the good of the club. You cannot get $15 Million dollars every day as a sponsorship. Please think of the club and our future, and I for one want a future, and not be in the situation of some of the other clubs in Vic when they will become extinct, or forced to merge.
Please wait at least until all has been revealed, there are still a few things to be sorted out yet. Once we know ALL the facts, then maybe we can make a judgement. And remember we are still the Hawthorn Hawks, and NOBODY can take that from us..We are all Brown and Gold thru and thru..

I'm going to buy a Hawks jumper next year and put a big red cross of tape over the Tassie sign as a protest.

Who's with me?

We started in Tasmania as a 2 game experiment.
This year it was 3 matches (due to the Commonwealth Games said Jeff).
Next Year it's 5 games for the Tassie hawks.
How many games will it be in 2011? 2015?

Is that not a trend? Should we not be worried?

The fact that we, as members, haven't been consulted is rediculous. We have a picture of a STATE on our gurnsey for .... sake.

Settle pettle.

I don't really see the fuss. We are just securing our future which may become especially important if times become rough.

Congratulations Jeff You've done a wonderful job for the the Hawthorn F.C in negotiating future financial success for our off field ventures, stability is everything when your a victorian based club as the interstate clubs stand to prosper on and off the field.

In the next five years or so we will be counting our millions in profits added to our on field success which will eventuate as opossed to other victorian
clubs in a situation where they are likely to have no option but to either fold or merge, don't worry Jeffs heart is in the right place and we will always be the Hawthorn Football Club.:) :thumbsu:

Yes, I agree that it's just a sponsor - but can you tell me another other team (in the world), that has a different state (to the one it is based in), as it's major sponsor?

I thought we were pulling the wool over the Tassie Governments eyes when we negotiated this deal, but Tassie Hawks? We've been screwed.

And yes GALON, i've been pushing it for the last hour.

My precious and very clever Hawk wife will very easily be able to adhere a patriotic Vic. symbol IF the effect is tasteless, BUT with the HUDDO and PRITCHARD connection memories being so special themselves, I'm sure we'll cope. AND I'M ONE THAT HATES COMPROMISE, AND WILL NOT IN THE CASES OF INTEGRITY. So we'll see won't we ?

Agree with everything that has been written on this thread. We have just invested in a multi-million dollar complex in Waverly, we aren't going anywhere in the near future! The sponsorship dollars out of this are excellent and the only thing that will come of it is the Tassie Hawks. To be honest I hardly notice the current "HSBC" hawks sponsor when they mention it so I doubt I will notice Tassie Hawks. Really, its a great sponsor and good dollars so lets get behind the people who are being pro-active and getting us good sponsors rather than pre dicker administration that were reactive and almost killed us. Good work Jeff, keep these deals coming, hopefully the next few are less controversial with the members tho! Lets take this all in and then judge I say!

Hit the panic button if you like, but let's not sit in the Ejector seat.
We don't need supporters jumping off and threatening not to by memberships.
People forget that we nearly became the Melbourne Hawks, this move ensures that our identity remains - we will still be Hawthorn on the ladder and the Hawthorn football club, if we wear a small Tassie advertising logo versus a small HSBC logo - what is the difference?
My/our beloved footy club will be around for my children to support.
By the time the season kicks off next year and the emotion has worn off this will be a non-issue and we will be looking forward to what our kids and new draftees have got to offer.
Whether we be the Tassie hawks or the Poowong hawks, it's still the club we grew up loving and supporting.
Lets exercise a little perspective.

I'm not sure if I agree entirely with that post, but it's a great post nonetheless UP. :thumbsu:

Sponcership or not this deal stinks ,it is selling our identitie as a Victorian based club and to a large number of us that happens to mean a hell of a lot.Call me short sighted ,petty whatever you like but when we have a further 5000 less Victorian members for the sake of an extra 2000 tasmanians on the books then it all of a sudden is a big deal.We will become the laughing stock of the league over this, $15 million or not.

No its not. The club is no longer based at Glenferrie. The social club is gone (but not sold), the club has relocated 1/3 of its home games and now will effectively be called something else.

Perspective indeed.
