They've won enough to get a decent sponsor. Now they don't have to play in that backward state or have their name on the jumper. I love how their home state wouldn't support them but Tassie would, haha.

The hawks were good enough to gain support from 2 states - you guys struggle with just the one. one... that reminds me, hows the trophy cabinet at moorabin looking these days, do they still have the same bottle of tarnoff from 1962?

I heard the Hawks pawned all their Premiership Cups for cash - then still couldn't afford not to be the Tassie Hawks.
yep we loaned them to st.kilda so they could portray a sense of achievement and success to any new sponsor....oh and to justify the purchase of a 2nd bottle of tarnoff.

We have a new major sponsor. It will pay the required sponsorship AND undoubtedly attract new members. Not many sponsors are capable of doing that. Can't believe it's receiving any negative coverage. Very clever in my opinion.

And I heard the St.Kilda club would have bought some of them except they didn't know what they were, and couldn't understand their true value.

Thankyou, I agree with you that this is a good thing, but most people seem to think its the end of the world!

Do you really think the AFL want an AFL team in Tasmania...They would have to shell money out to it to keep it going...I doubt the AFL will ever sponsor a team, because the market will probably never be there...

It is just unrealistic that Hawthorn would or any other AFL team would move there...However being able to dip into the market like playing a few games there every year (4 games to be exact), pre season game does not count, makes good business sense...

We could end up playing more games there in the future, that is possible, but that is a small price to pay to secure not only our existence but also a profitable existence...

At the end of the day Hawthorn and the AFL will do what makes the most money...and that could be only playing no more than 4 games, maybe 1 more or 1 maybe less...

When you consider the sucess you would think we are going to have over the next decade, I think Hawthorn will want to play as many home games in Melbourne as they can so I don't think they would be looking at any more Tassie games....
