Are you always that dignified in victory?

I have a lot of respect for what Richmond has done this year.

Congrats to the swans though, it would be an incredible feat to make the finals from the position they were in 6 weeks ago.

Don, perhaps you are referring to a personal matter but I think it is a little unfair to say you don't respect them but not say why.

Hey don, this time I can't agree with you.

I have every respect for Richmond.

They clearly know that their spot is to occupy ninth place on the ladder and acted accordingly to fulfil their destiny.

I am not saying that i have a problem with Richmond, just that i have no respect for them. This is in the sense that as a footy club they are a non entity.

I have no respect for their supporters that are determined that the umpires decided every game they lose.

It is hard to believe that of the 400 kicks in a game, that the game is solely decided by the 25 kicks given by the umpires.

I have respect For S&Don Carlton and West Coast even Norff. But not for some of these lame provincial clubs.

There's just little satisfaction in beating them, othher than getting the 4 points.

That is your lame opinion.
Richmond have proven themselves as a team this year. At one stage they were third on the ladder. How would you know that other teams get no satisfaction in beating them? If you saw the sydney match you would've seen how happy they (sydney) were to win. They knew that they beat a final 8 contender and they got up to win.
Iam extremely frustrated with what you wrote.

Good argument Richmond dork!!! At one stage Collingwood were second on the ladder. At one stage you were a child with plenty of potential. Look what happened in each case!

Lets face it. Richmond have made the finals once since 1982. The most unsuccessful VFL/AFL team of the last twenty seasons wihtout peer.

Larry DORK,
Richmond may have been unsuccessful but we are a great club. You can't say much for Collingwood. 14th position - what has Malthouse done to improve them? You can only bring up facts from the past 20 years to help improve your argument. Get with it.

Richmond are one of the great football clubs. Show some respect.

They have made 22 Grand finals, winning 10 of them. They have massive support due to their past successes. Only Carlton, Collingwood and Essendon are more "revered" and "talked about". Infact, only Carlton, Collingwood and Essendon have won more games (going by percentage wins)

Richmond has had a poor era, that's all. Up until 1982, they were one of the leading clubs. Since 1994, even though they have only made the finals once (1995), they have finished 9th, 3 or 4 times. With a bit of luck, they could have made the finals in 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, and 1998. Last year (1999) they missed easily, but the previous five years, they only missed by percentage or half a game.

Richmond poor record in "making the finals" does not do the club justice, becasue they could have very easily made the finals a number of times.

I, for one, love beating Richmond because I respect them as a great football club that is just going through a tough time.

Richmond Fan#1 : Stick with them. When you get your injured players back, you are going to be awesome next year. I hope you don't tragically finish 9th again. That would be terrible, and incredibly unfair. Imagine if there was a final 9 instead of a final 8 ! You'd be in the finals every year !!!!

Unfortunatley, I think you might miss out again on percentage. But while there is life, there's hope.

Don, what do you mean by Provincial Club? Their home ground is 1 metre from the MCG. To me, that's central.

I have to say, that while I don't admire Richmond as a club as such, ie lack of success in recent years. I do admire every single person who supports them. And you have to love that song, "Oh we're from Tiger..Yellow and Black, we're from Tigerland"

For what those supporters have gone through over the years of finishing somewhere between last and 1 spot out of the finals all but 1 of the last 20 years, you have to admire them for their sticking power. Every other clubs supporters drop off, but not the Tigers.

Tiges, Let's hope you knock the Blues off next week and the Doggies do you a favour on Friday Night. Your supporters deserve it.
