I for one have never been to the G or Vic park. I feel embarrassed, ashamed and deprived. I DESPERATLY want to see the G, to see an aFL game at the G. I want to be a part of the crowd that blends in with the atmosphere, the game itself. Even more so, i want to see the tigers play a game there and kick ass at their home ground.

I look into your eyes and i say, I see a part of me.
And when you smile, you light the room.
Sorry i have to go away, no please don't misconstrue, i just hope you understand one day, the hardest part was leaving you.

I've been to the G before, nothing like a huge crowd there, the noise is unbelievable! I've also been to Optus once but haven't been to Colonial. I might try to get down to Melbourne this year and see a game there.
I'd like to see some more finals footy at the MCG, the atmosphere is great no matter which teams are playing.

I went to see a game at Colonial but it was between the Saints and Crows so there wasn't much atmosphere. That's the only game I've been to in Melbourne, I'm not upset about it, but I'd love to go and see a few more, especially some at the MCG with a packed crowd.

Go on joffa, tell me about games at vic park, I'd love to hear some stories. It seems on the t.v. to be a great place to watch footy, if you're Pies supporter anyway.

It's true hard work never killed anybody, but I figure, why take the chance??

The only two grounds I didn't see football played at was Victoria Park and Windy Hill. It seemed that whenever we played the Pies of Bombers it was at the 'G.

I am really disappointed about experiencing these grounds - something about the intimacy that the small stadiums have, the closeness to the players and the chance to match wits with opposition supporters. All good natured fun!

Don't beleive Mags RF1, the 'G is a great spot for football. Still about 50,000 general public seats available for most games - of course the blockbusters are a bit more of a tight fit! And with a decent crowd, the placec really pumps!

This is a hallucination and these faces are in a dream. A computer generated environment; a fantasy island you can do anything and not have to face the consequences.

Nope I havent watched footy at the MCG or Vic Park. Personally I dont really care. Sure I would love to see a game at the MCG, but im certainly not going to kill myself over it or even think for more than it takes to write this messege about it.
I LOVE SUBI!!! its my boys home ground and that means more to me than the MCG.

Dont get me wrong, Im not ignorant about the whole MCG experience or anthing, im sure its a blast but hey to me the home of footy is right here in my home state.
Different strokes for different folks ya know! lol

Been to the G once and loved it. the atmosphere was amazing. my team ,the roos got their arses kicked but i didnt mind that day cos i was mainly lapping up the atmosphere. There is no place in canberra that has such an awesome atmosphere (except maybe parliament house during election time!!! nahhhhh just kidding!!!!!!!!)

Hmmmmm

Have only ever been to the G once - not to see my team either.

Have seen my team play at Colonial.

And went to a game at Optus in the early to mid 80's.

As a Hawthorn supporter believe it or not Vic Park and Western Oval were my two favourite grounds, standing with your mates in the rain with a tinnie in your hand, not worrying about what you say and who you say it too, letting out your frustrations, enjoying sparring with the devoted Magpie faithful, win, lose or draw it was a fantastic experience. Dont believe the stories you hear about it being dangerous, everyone at these grounds wanted there team to win and wanted to tell someone about it, alot of laughs were had. Just not the same at the concrete jungles unless you have an absolutely packed house. The grounds are gone but the memories remain.

Been to the G a couple of times and to Arctic Park a few times but would have liked to have gone more often ( to the G that is). As Hmmmmmm said Manuka Oval, despite its positives, isn't quite the G ( for the footy or the criggit).

"Is there any place you'd rather be than with me at the MCG and if the Saints get done again ah Christ I wouldn't care..."

I have been to most ground in Victoria and some interstate. For the last 16 years I lived in Melbourne I never missed a home or away game. Then I had to move interstate for work and have been stuck watching abbreviated footy on TV in Brisbane at 1am.

I have been to the following grounds to watch VFL/AFL footy.
Albert Park oval
Great area - poor drainage. I remember one game with the footy floating in water about 1 foot deep on the wing
Punt road oval
Last time was for a practice match
Victoria park
Scary place to watch footy if you didn't barrack for the pies. Worse if they lost.
Junction Oval
The best surface for footy in Melbourne
Moorabbin
Mud runners paradise The sprinklers were on even while it rained
Waverly
Only part really undercover was the members and the carpark was impossible to get out off straight after a match. Sometimes took over an hour and then there were the RBT's.
MCG
With the new screens a great place to watch footy although the top deck Western stand is a long, long, long way away from the action.
Kardinia Park
Always needed to have more money spent on it
Glenferrie Oval
It was tight near the train line and sometimes as the trains went past they'd blast their horn and you'd think it was the end of a quarter
Brunswick Street oval
Only for some practice matches
Windy Hill
Rightly named and hard to get a park within about 2 miles of the ground
Western oval
The Doug Hawkins wing. No matter what quarter Doug would be on that one wing
Princes Park
Easy to get to and a lot of pubs within walking distance
The SCG
The rugby league ground next door really shows that the ground needs the Swans to make improvements.
The WACA
Really noticed the lack of support for the away team.
Footy Park
This is an experience. Have a walk through the carpark before a game. I thought it was a country race meeting

I will do a post today or tomorra about a day out a good ole vicky park,i think a lot of people will be suprised as bubbalouis
put it it was a lotta fun.

I have been to every ground except the Gabba.
For atmosphere the G wins hands down, Windy Hill was my favourite of course, especially the A Hird Stand.
Cheers

i've been to the G heaps and heaps of times and lots of other ovals around vicotria, but what really shits me is that i'm a swans fan living in melbourne.
i dont get to see them play as much because they mostly play up in sydney, i love the mcg so much, the atmosphere and everything but i want to be there more of the time.
i've never been to the scg before and i am dyyying to go there, i'd love to go and watch the swanies play at their home ground.
Well hopefully i'll get to go there sometime this season.

I've been to the MCG twice and both times for Richmond v Carlton games. Fantastic atmosphere and very easy to get to and out of.

The weirdest place I've been to is Kardinia Park. As a crows fan I was expecting all sorts of abuse but they were so quiet and easy going. Even had a few beers after the game with some of them.

Optus Oval is a miserable place to watch footy. getting in is hard, getting out is hard, getting a beer is hard.

I don't go to the AFL games much anyway. When I do get home to Adelaide I prefer going to watch Sturt in the SANFL which is still a great suburban competition where you can stand on a hill with opposition supporters and enjoy the football.

I have been to Victoria Park three times and boy that was an experience. The last one provided me with the greatest memory. We actually won. Allan Jakovich kicked the winning goal and we won by nine points. I have never seen anything like it. The crowd was filthy. I stayed calm so I'd get out alive but deep inside I was jumping for joy. Oh for some surburban footy!

I've seen one match live, ever, at the G. It was a Fremantle-Essendon match, so I saw maybe 1/4 of a match at best. I guess that's better than most Americans.

Fear not though, I'm here until June and I plan on seeing as much as I can. I would like to go to Colonial once just to see it. I've driven by some of the other ones; seen Waverley and Vic Park from the car a few times and I saw the SCG when I was up in Sydney last month.

I really lament not getting to come over here sooner and see the suburban ovals. You will NOT see anything like that in the US, anywhere. I mean, there are minor league suburban stadiums but they don't host top national professional sports and never did.

I guess I could still go to Optarse Oval but there's little chance of Essendon every playing there again as long as Carlton is the only club to use it.

I'm actually going to go visit Windy Hill soon for the first time to see what's there. Would like to buy a jumper from the club.

I have been to most grounds in Victoria and I can say I have had the pleasure of watching games at Vic Park. I have to say the ground is full of tradition mainly because all the facilities are about 80 years old but it great to look at the top of the stands and see all the names of the great players who played for Collingwood. I remember the 1st time I went there I was only there for about 5 minutes standing on the hill and this women who was the fattest ugliest women I have ever seen kicked a half full can of beer off the ground at me and I ended up being covered with beer. But once the ground is full you would never anywhere else see so many uneducated & unemployed people all at the same place at the same time.
