I've pulled off a bit of a transfer coup with Ajax. I've had it with Bergdolmo and is crapness (he has cost me 7 goals this season, 2 penalties) so I went searching. Guess who was available? Phillipe Mexes, for 2.5 million!
When he arrives - December 31st - he'll be first choice centre half along with Cristian Chivu, with Hatem Trabelsi and the ever brilliant Maxwell as the right and left fullbacks respectively.
Although this is 02/03's data, you can already tell Jari Litmanen is declining rapidly. He's only managed to put together three consecutive games this season, which is a shame because he's a club legend.
Zlatan is improving as a forward. In one match, against Hereenveen at the ArenA (I ended up losing 0-1 though), he created a lot of chances. Considering this IS two years ago, that's pretty good.
I currently sit equal 4th on the table, with NAC. I hit some real bad form where I lost three in a row and dropped to ninth. That form wasn't helped by a combination of injuries (Litmanen, Maxwell, Trabelsi), suspensions (Zlatan, Van Der Vaart, Galasek - twice) and my team being Dutch, thus missing three penalty kicks. Losing to Feyenoord at De Kuip was bad, but I'm lucky I've been fixtured to face PSV and Feyenoord at the ArenA after the Winter Break.
In the Champions League, I'm in third. My group, however, is topped by Manchester United with Real Madrid in second, so I think finishing third to them is a decent effort for a club teh size of Ajax. UEFA Cup is pretty much definite, which isn't so bad - it's a very weak UEFA Cup lineup this year with the only "big" clubs left being Lazio, Parma and Villa.
Things are looking good for the Ajaccied.
HUP AJAX!

Sounds like it would be a fun challenge to try and take a small club to the top of Holland.

Much of the fun for me is looking around and finding good players myself. It's a great feeling when you find that player that couple of players that complete the dynamic and allow you to win back to back UEFA Cups & Premier Leagues![]()

Gun.
I like going through the European U/21 sides, you can find some pretty good (and cheap) talent there.
