Yeah but why did Tracey not let him Finish what he Wanted to say.

Bit of Positivity might not hurt
Because they are crap interview shows with poor interviewers. I don't know why you expect so much from a sensationalist reporter like Tracey.

I expect that this will happen world wide.
First a big jump in numbers and then a rapid decline.
There were many people affected before strict measures came in. Those people will start showing symptoms over the next week or two but the numbers should then start to decrease due to all the people not getting affected as a result of the measures that have been taken.

Although you're not allowed to say these things because some people seem to be loving the doomsday scenario and won't accept that things may not be that bad.

My interpretation of it is that things are that bad, but as the immunologist in the article points out, we'll avoid worsening the situation if we accept and abide by the need for isolation.

Again, it's about flattening the growth rate of this thing so that our hospital system isn't crushed. Once we do that, economic and social life can start returning to whatever passes as normal.

The way people need to act as if it's THEM who has the virus, not others. Ever since someone told me to hold that perspective I've found myself almost crawling the walls to find my distance from someone.
I think you’ve won post of the year.

how beautifully said.

This is exactly what I have been doing.
From a personal point of view I couldn't give a f if I got the virus, my concern is more who I may pass it onto. It may just be someone who is in a high risk category, so despite not giving a f from a personal point of view I am still self isolating for the sake of others.

It won't be a quick fix, we'll still need to live in some sort of lock down for a bit, but if someone like Peter Doherty says that we'll be okay with the right measures then you can take it to the bank.

Pinch of patience, bit of optimism, we'll be right in time.

True but at least it won't get as bad as like Italy has got it.

Won't be Fixed 100% Until a Vaccine is Found

As you say at least some Optimism in all the Doom and Gloom everywhere else

As a teacher, I could well be asked to go back to work after the school holidays. My answer will be no.

I will give up my job before risking my own kid’s wellbeing.

I reckon that a good percentage of your colleagues feel the same way, not unreasonably so.

The notable pandemic researcher pictured below....

indicated that the world might be up and running in a few months, although he did express his long held concern for those who dont have much money.

His eminence indicated that he expects all survivors who can pass a coronavirus test will receive a small tattoo to indicate that they are ready to provide productive work

The irony of you baiting me when you’re obsessed by a w***er like Trump isn’t lost on me.

Choose your battles wisely my friend because I can give as good as I get.
I gather BJ withdrew his comment and I have no idea of the context. But CFC/JB consider yourself worthy of riding into battle against because at least he acknowledges you. For those of us blocked by BJ, we don't even register in his thoughts. I probably agree with BJ's basic politics, as I am a Trump hater and a bit of a leftie, until franking credits are mentioned. But BJ is easily my least favourite poster on this board, a testament to his ability to antagonise like no other with his arrogant and dismissive manner. However there is no one I would prefer to be blocked by than BJ. Gives me freedom of expression without fear of contradiction or criticism. May I remain forever ignored.

This one is a vent. I got a rates letter from the Freo Council today. This is the same council whose Mayor, Brad Pettitt, has forged ahead of his peers in the past by scrapping citizenship ceremonies on Australia day and changing the name of freo to its indigenous name...…. and his latest where he invited any ship in the region to come to the Port and spend some cash if other ports weren't being nice enough to allow them in.

Nothing about coronavirus on the rates bill..... nothing about instalments..... just a few lines about getting a seniors discount but only if the bill was paid by june 30. Past that date, it warned, and the discount will be lost. Of course the council needs the money because it has spent something like $300m on a new council building in the centre of Freo which will serve as something like one of those medieval walled fortresses. Evidently every council employee will have their own office with ensuite. Unfortunately, there is no room in the palace for the library so it's been sited in the basement.... to provide a cheery sunlight free environment for pesky ratepayers who happen to have library cards. Brad, it should be noted, has been plucked by the Greens because of his great work and will be on their ticket for the next election. He scheduled his first child for the last mayoral election ( i have an album of my favourite 50 brad and child snaps) and i'm sure his wife is readying herself for the next instalment.

Ok I am going to have a genuine vent.
Enough with the doomsday crap. Otto has had a gut full of it.
99.99 percent of you are going to be fine.
So instead of hording toilet paper and freaking out, use your energy to protect those in society who are vulnerable.
The vast majority of us will be fine even if we catch the virus.
Stop carrying on like it's the end of the world, stop being selfish and think about those who really are at risk.

Someone tell me about the speed of the internet. Not only is mine slow but it varies a lot. One minute i get a decent speed test. Other times, I cant even run the online test.
I’d settle for slow internet right now. Mine (TPG) dropped out at noon yesterday and still hasn’t came back. Nothing’s changed at my end and I’ve reset the modem a dozen times.

Tech support forget it - phone no answer, chat just gives an error message and I’ve had no response via email.

Do you have a VPN......if so, go through that

Unfortunately no, however I did manage to get through via chat shortly after opening today. There were already 160 people in the queue. The fault is outside my property.

Just returned from having my tooth out (bad timing, couldn’t be avoided).

40 something woman comes out of the surgery ahead of me, goes to the counter to pay. Ignores the taped line to keep her distance and is all over the counter with her hands and arms, and then empties the entire contents of her bag on the counter to find her purse. Unbelievable. The receptionist looked stunned.

I imagine the real purpose of the pulling was to enhance that toothless Collingwood look and add genuine black and white beauty to your smile.
