Big buddy Franklin 08 ?
Probably.

But focal points that kick large % of a team's goals is NOT what works in modern footy.

Forcing contests. Presenting. Creating space and opportunities for teammates. Being capable in the air. Being capable on the ground. Strong defensively. Bringing the ball to ground. Whilst also being dangerous in your own right in terms of Goals, is the prototype of the modern valuable forward.

This, ladies and gentlemen, is Brodie Mihocek defined.

Well it does.
2022 Cameron and Hawkins both finished 5 goals behind Curnow and Cameron played less games than him so effectively for us, winning the comp did revolve around focal points that kicked a huge percentage of our goals and that was only a couple of completed seasons ago.

2 years before that we had a Coleman medalist and led the GF midway through the third quarter.

If you look at overall goals last year including finals, 3 of the top four goalkickers were from Brisbane who won the flag, Geelong who arguably choked it, and GWS with Hogan who twice choked their way out of finals.

Think this is a pretty broad generalisation to say focal points aren’t what works in modern footy

Honest, anyways liked him. He just keeps presenting. Never drops his head.

First picked? No. Bias hat on, but Sam Darcy.

Yeah not close but love the general idea/premise of the thread.

For all the shit coaches role out about underperforming KF’s “we just want him to contest”, Mihocek is actually one that does, everytime.

Great contested mark. Great kick (normally). Smart.

wouldn’t be my first picked, but could definitely do worse. Other thing is that he likely has a team friendly contract

Obviously 'Ratings points' aren't the only metric you could use. But he is a fair way down the list:

Tall forwards I would DEFINITELY pick before him: Hogan, Cameron, Larkey, Treacy, Thilthorpe, Darcy, Ben King.

Mid/Small Forwards I would pick before him: Dylan Moore, Bolton, Daniels, Miers, Greene, Stengle, Bailey, Pickett, Papley, Hardwick.

..that Brodie Mihocek is the best forward in the comp.

I genuinely think that he would be first pick in my forward line.

Big fan of Mihocek's for a long time now.
Best forward in the comp is completely subjective.
But he slots into any forward line in the AFL.

This is a bit of a loaded question because you’ve picked a year where there really aren’t many good key forwards as most of the good ones just retired and the new blood is just getting warmed up

Curnow is off his tucker
Daniher - done
Lynch - cooked
Riewoldt - done
King Bothers - meh
J Cameron - not that interested
Allen - cooked
Dixon - done
McKay - ?

New blood
J Treacy
S Darcy
L McDonald
S Neale
J Waterman
C Dear

So Mihocek wins because he’s the most experienced but still active and has a good team around him

I used to have a crush on Kristy McNichol. Thought she was grouse. The best. Geewizz, crushes can twist the brain into potato mash. You can't tell them, though.

He would be the perfect 3rd forward but has never had the opportunity to play that role, has done very well holding his own against huge backmen. Best forward in the comp is a massive stretch though.
